• Tuesday, July 3, 2007 - Wild things

So are you tired of animal blogs?

Any guesses as to what sort of critters my husband brought home the other day?

I got a call from him and he asked me to have the boys get a box for a ...."pet".   I'm wondering what he is bringing home this time.   So I asked what size box??  12x12 at least.   Oh good!  A small something.

Yes they are birds.  Can you guess what kind?

Aren't they cute!  Tim saw the momma get hit by a car so he stopped and gathered up three of them.   They are tiny!  Less than half the size of my fist.

First thing I did was call Colorado Farm Girl  and she set me up with some feed that she gives her baby chickens.  We are also giving them bugs.  I hope we can raise them succesfully.  (another way of saying I hope they don't die)  Although one doesn't look too good this morning.

I love baby animals, and I like the experience of taking care of things, but I'm a little tired of dying wild things.

Are these Guinea Fowl? A friend was given about 40 Guinea eggs and we got to see the chicks after they hatched. They were so cute!

Just in case I'm right about your babies here is a link to a site full of Guinea information (they have lots of links at the bottom of the page)

Good luck!

We love them! Do you know what kind they are? I hope they are doing well. We have about 36 chickens right now. Plus our meat birds for fair. We have so much fun with our chick and chickens. Hope you are enjoying them!

The thoughts and reflections of a mom who loves being at home, and is doing all she has ever desired in her life..... Really... I love my life that much!

"And all thy sons shall be taught of the Lord, and great shall be the peace of thy sons.
In righteousness shall thou be established."
Is 54:13-14
