I just finished reviewing Terri Johnson’s Upper Level Homeschool and wanted to tell you a little about it. Terri also wrote Homeschooling ABC’s for those beginning to homeschool and I loved those lessons so much, that I requested to review her Upper Level lessons. She graciously allowed me to do so.

Upper Level is comprised of 13 weekly lessons that begin with showing you how to plan 4 years of high school, from the classes your students will take to how to issue credits and even discusses college. My favorite lesson deals with Starting & Maintaining a Transcript, since that’s what I need to be doing as we go along in our high school journey. I have 2 in high school and haven’t been keeping up with their grades as I should be…I’m more of a procrastinator in this area. However, there’s even a spreadsheet to help me get started. No more excuses for me! By the way, do you know what constitutes a high school credit? I didn’t before the lessons, but I do now thanks to Terri’s way of breaking down huge chunks of info and turning them into bite sized pieces.

Homework assignments are also assigned to the parent(s) in order to help you not procrastinate and get the task done.  One of the first assignments are for you to find out what your state’s laws are concerning homeschooling so that you can know up front what is expected from you and your student. Links are provided so it’s as easy and point and click.

Did you know it’s ok to outsource subjects like sewing, CPR/First Aid, and sports? I’ve outsourced Language Arts, but didn’t even think about giving credit for the First Aid classes my kids took for church. Thankfully Terri thought of these and included them in the lessons.

One lesson deals with essays. I personally dislike essays with a passion, but yet again, Terri makes it look so easy. Where was she when I was in school?!?! haha Dual credit is discussed as is CLEP Testing for college credit. My girls aren’t planning on going to college, but since they may, these are topics I’m glad are included.

So, if you’ve got a student in high school or will be soon, I highly recommend you purchase these classes as soon as possible.  Go here to learn more: http://upperlevelhomeschool.com/
