May. 25, 2009 - Night Watchman Review

I just read Night Watchman by Mark Mynheir. Waterbrook Multnomah, a division of Random House, is having a blog tour this week using this book.
My sixteen year old daughter read this book and said:
“The Night Watchman is an entertaining, face-paced book full of drama and action. The suspense never stops and just when you think there are no more surprises, the plot thickens. This is a must-read book! Everything from the characters to the wording of this book is superb. Whoever reads this book will not be disappointed. Mark Mynheir is an amazing author and I am expecting great things from him in the future.”
I have to agree with her. It is fast-paced, funny, and suspenseful. Mr. Mynheir is an actual detective who investigates violent crimes and his background shows through in his writing, without losing you.
The book is about a homicide detective, Ray Quinn, who gets crippled while working and loses the love of his life, Trisha, at the same time. Ray drowns himself in booze to help fight his pain, both physical and emotional.
Ray becomes a night watchman since he had to “retire” from his detective work. After a pastor and adult “entertainer” are found together, murdered at Ray’s job, the pastor’s sister, Pam, convinces Ray to use his keen detective skills and prove her brothers innocence.
This is a good book and it’s hard to put down. Get your copy here.
