The Other Blog

Posted in bloggy things

I started playing around at Blogspot the other day and well, I got carried away.  My father in law started a blog over there for my brother in law's homeless ministry.  He asked if I could help him.  I didn't know anything about blogspot but figured I could learn enough to help him if I played around with it a little.  So far I have been no help to him but have really been liking the features there for my own blog!  Oops!  So I am considering a big change.  I need to decide if I am done with this one or if this can just be my little homeschool place on the web and  Good Fruit can be more of a devotional type blog.

For now, just know that I am at both places, but it is possible that Jen's Journal will be moving soon.  I'll let both you loyal readers (both of you...ha ha) know if I ever make up my mind.

Tagged!!!

Posted in bloggy things

My friend Kindred Heart has tagged me.  I am to tell you 7 random things about myself and tag seven others.  If I tag you, you need to write 7 things about yourself and you are suppose to tag 7 others.  Be sure to leave them a comment to let them know they have been tagged.

Okay...I'll play.

1.  Jason and I have recently started playing on our kids'  Webinz accounts after they go to bed.  And for now, I am totally whipping him at Dex Dangerous and the Lunar Lugbotz.  (That would be sort of a Space Invaders thing for you other old people.)  We don't get any TV channels, and tax season is over.  Hey, we gotta do something!

2.  Speaking of getting no TV channels, if we find something we love we buy the DVD.  (Or in my case, receive them for gifts.)  I am the proud owner of all nine seasons of Little House on the Prairie.  Even Betsie can hum along to the theme song when the credits are rolling.

3.  Our favorite Christmas movie the past few years (speaking of DVDs...we need to get this one) is Elf.  Sometimes if I see Jason's number on the caller ID I like to answer the phone like this, "Buddy the Elf, what's your favorite color?"  Other Elf fans will get that.  Totally cracks us up.

4.  Although I was only a member of the work force just a few short years before I had children, I actually had to file for workers' compensation twice.  The first time was when I was a YMCA daycamp counselor.  I was really into a game of four square, dove for the ball, and broke my tooth on the hard tile floor.  The other time was when I was in the very dangerous job of kindergarten teacher and I cut my head.  I was leaving my classroom for the day.  I leaned down to put my things down as I was locking up my room.  As I stood back up, I came right up on the metal door jam and cut myself, requiring Jason to come get me and take me to urgent care where I received 4 stitches.  Nice huh.

5.  One of my front teeth is a fake.  See above.

6.  I won the first grade jump rope contest at my elementary school with 126 jumps.  I got my picture in the paper which was proudly displayed on my grandparents' fridge of fame.

7.  I had never been out of the country until last summer when I went to China to adopt the sweetest and wildest Chinese acrobat ever.

Let's see, why don't I tag these people...

I've Been Tagged!!

Posted in bloggy things

Well now...Suzanne has tagged me!  I have to answer the "Seven Sevens."  I'm going to cheat and steal her answers if I like them, and each list is in no particular order (copied that one from Suzanne too!)

Here goes...

Seven Things To Do Before I Die:

1.  Complete this ongoing adoption...

2.  See my girls all following Christ.

3.  Read through the whole Bible in a year.  (I always get behind or read a different passage instead of the assigned one.  Because of that, there are still books I have never read!)

4.  Go on a mission trip with Jason (and my kids going would be an added bonus!)

5.  Homeschool my daughters all the way through high school, Lord willing!

6.  Catch up on my scrapbooks.

7.  Update my will!  (with our new baby's name)

Seven Things I Cannot Do: (This list could be way longer!)

1.  Sew

2.  Ski

3.  Touch my tongue to my nose

4.  Walk a tightrope

5.  Milk a cow

6.  Change a tire

7.  My husband's job

Seven Things That Attract Me To My Husband

1.  He makes the decisions that I hate to make.

2.  He looks good.

3.  He's funny.

4.  He reads the Bible to me.

5.  He is an involved daddy.

6.  He listens to me.  (And I can talk his ears off at times.)

7.  He will do the hard thing if it's the RIGHT thing.

Seven Things I Say Often

1.  Wiggle your teeth.

2.  Obey cheerfully.

3.  I love you!

4.  I'm tired.

5.  Be considerate of each other.

6.  Take your thumb out of your mouth.

7.  Not so loud!

Seven Books - Or Series - I Love

1.  Safely Home by Randy Alcorn

2.  Educating the Wholehearted Child by Clay and Sally Clarkson

3.  The Bible

4.  The Sisterchicks books by Robin Jones Gunn

5.  Pocketful of Pinecones by Karen Andreola

6.  Little Women by Louisa Mae Alcott

7.  Little House series by Laura Ingalls Wilder

(only 7 books???!!!)

Seven Movies I watch Over and Over Again (or would if I had the time!)

1.  The Incredibles

2.  Elf

3.  The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe (once it's on DVD!)

I can't think of anymore!  We're not huge movie watchers...I'll add more if I think of them.

Seven People I Want to Join in too!

Would y'all think I'm a bad blogger if I just say tag yourself (from me of course) if interested?!

There you go!
