"Lo, Children are a heritage of the Lord......Psalm 127:3

Keepers at home.....

Fridays around here are somewhat more relaxed as far as "school" time goes.  We tend to do more housekeeping tasks and focus on what we like to call "home-ec"...lol.  Having four girls, I've come to realize the importance of allowing them to help with all the tasks involved in keeping a home, even the youngest.  It takes more time and patience of course, but it is a necessary part of training our daughters.  It's something I could have used more of growing up!  I left home not knowing how to do much more than boil water and don't want that to happen to my children.  Well trained daughters will be such a blessing to their husbands and children!  Of course the two boys get in on the action too sometimes....especially on days like yesterday when we made oatmeal cookies.  Letting them help from an early age gets them into the habit of doing these things and then you don't have to "force" them when they are older.  Now that is something I wish I would have known when my oldest two were little.....but I thank the Lord for revealing this tid-bit to me and I'm intent on making the change.

So, I encourage other moms to do the same.  Yes it takes longer to get things done, and yes making cookies will be messier than doing it yourself.  But just give it a try....after all they are only little for a short time.  Another thing that we moms have to remember when doing this is to do it with a cheerful heart!

"That they [the older women] may teach the young women to be sober, to love their
husbands, to love their children, To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good,
obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed."
