Blogger Friend School #13
Planted in Blooger Friend School

Please feel free to join me in posting about your Bible, it's really interesting to see other people's Bibles and learning about how they study and the tools they use for that.
- How old is your Bible?
- Why did you chose this Bible?
- Do you highlight/mark passages in your Bible?
- If so, what is your system for marking passages?
- Do you have notebooks to record things?
- If so, how many and what do you record?
- Where is your favourite spot to read your Bible?
- Are there any special thoughts about your Bible you want to share?

How old is your Bible?
My bible is only about a year old, my hubby bought it for me to replace one that was 11~12 years old.
Why did you chose this Bible?
It was chose for me.
Do you highlight/mark passages in your Bible?
As you can see there is always at least one higlighter in my case, usually two or three.
If so, what is your system for marking passages?
I usually underline or highlight a passage that I do not undersatand or that I ask God To explain to me. I usually bring it to my hubby or wait until i get there again. It amazes me how many times God has answered my questions.
Do you have notebooks to record things?
I do have a note book, but most notes go in the margins of my bible pages.
If so, how many and what do you record?
See above
Where is your favourite spot to read your Bible?
Sitting in the rocking chair with a cup of tea.
Are there any special thoughts about your Bible you want to share?
It is special because my hubby bought it for me as a surprise. I am not as faithful to my reading as I should be. I tend to let the cares of this worls interfere with my time with my God. But HE ALWAYS forgives me and I continue to try again. It is special in that God always reveals himself to me here it is where I get to know my Saviour, it is where I become close to my Saviour. It is where He helps me to grow , where He pricks me and bleeds me til the only one I realise to turn to is Him. Does this make sence? I know that as I grow as a christian God will allow things to come into my life that I may not always want there, sometimes it takes me ahile to realise that this is from God to help. It is then that I remember to ask Him to show me how to deal with this and in this become closer to my Lord. I feel that i am rambling as usual.
I pray that the Lord will open Himself to us all in a very real way in the next week.

Michelle, you are not rambling on at all! I think we all find it difficult at various time to find the time for reading God's Word (I know I do!), but, as you say, He will always manage to make sure that He will guide us towards His Word when we most need it. As we all grow as Christians, I pray that it becomes easier!!
I was blessed to recieve my current Bible from my son - he already knows how precious the Word of God is to me - I pray that it will become just as precious to him one day!
Have a good week!

Thanks for visiting my blog. I enjoyed reading about your Bible too, and it's very nice to find another Canadian homeschooler.
I'd love to have you add your link to my Canadian Homeschool Bloggers Mr. Linky - http://jacquelinesjabberings.blogspot.com/2008/02/canadian-homeschool-bloggers.html - I'd also love it if you'd spread the word about it.

God will definitely reveal Himself to you each and every day but you have to be open to it. I have a hard time making progress with my Bible studies too, not because I let things get in the way, but more because I get too deep into one particular study and it keeps me from moving on to another area. Keep coming back to BFS, please and you'll grow more and more into studying the Word.

I struggle with being as faithful as I should be with my daily Bible reading also. One thing I've learned is that I HAVE to do it first thing. Otherwise it just keeps getting pushed to later and before I know it the day is over. You just gave me my inspiration for my next blog post. Something that illustrates our daily devotions. Check it out tomorrow at Livingwateracademy.com

It can be hard to get into the habit of anything. A preacher once taught us that it takes 21 days to make a habit and 3 days to break it. I'm not sure of the validity of that statement, but I had the same problem with wanting to read God's Word daily. Then I tried this: I made a chart with the numbers 1-21 and posted it on my bathroom mirror. At the top I put "Have you had the Word today?" Each day I read for 5 minutes and crossed out a number and by day 21 it really did become automatic and I began to spend more time reading. Just a thought.
