Warning! This is Really Gross!!!!!!!!!!!
Planted in Family
Before I show pictures or pose my question to you, I want to warn you that this is really disgusting!!!!!! Do not go on if you have a weak tummy.
I have recently started to really loose some weight, so far 8 lbs! Yeah me! Some of what I have been doing involves eating smaller portions and having healthy snacks more often to boost my matabolism and get my weight off. For that reason when I want a treat I have switched from fatty stuff to apple slices with a little carmel dip , this is a treat after all. I usually but this at my local grocery store.
A few nights ago I purchased one for us all to hhave some. We happily munched away. Yesterday afternoon I thought I would have some more, only yo pick up an apple and find this ...................

Can you see it? Do you know what it is? Yes, it is a magot! Now this is the same store that I cut my leg on their dairy display on saturday when getting groceries. They let me bring back the unused portion for a refund. But I am really curious, what would you have expected them to do? Where you live what would the store have done for you? Please comment and let me know. I think the thing that bothered me the most was not knowing if there was anymore in the package.

Do you notice having any aversions to apples now? I don't know what the store would have done. The apples are in a sealed package, right? I had a bad experience at McDonalds years ago...a long curly hair in one of those yogurt parfaits. I should have, but I didn't take it back. After nearly throwing up, I just threw it away and haven't been back since. Gross, huh?! Leinani

The stores around here would have just given the money back for the product. I'm not a level headed person anymore the older I get so I tend to make more of a fuss, especially if I had already ate some. I would have made a stink about it all seeing as how you cut you leg there too. I would have informed them that I would not be shopping at their store anymore. Now, if it were just the apples I bought and have never had a problem there before, then I might have gone easy on them and just made a big fuss that my family could have already aten some with bugs on it.
It would make me werry of buying them anymore.

I dont know, It really depends on the store I think. Alot of big chains around here think they are too big and dont care much for there customers.. but most mom and pops would offer a discount of some nature ... I would think, I have never found maggots, but I did buy ground beef that was rotten once and all they did was take it back, (it was a big chain) in fact they smelled it and had someone else smell it as tho I was lying and they still seemed to think that I was crazy but, I wasnt keeping RAW meat!
I am glad they at least took it back... how disgusting.. DO you have the option to shop elsewhere? It takes a LONG time for an apple to go rotten and to get MAGGOTS if there apples are that disgusting I cant imagine what the rest of the food is like.

Well, I can return anything to Superstore, and have.. I bought apple cider once and the whole lip and top layer was fuzzy green.
Unfortunately, we're dealing with fresh produce, so, this is bound to happen..
Just so you know Michelle, if you had left that apple around a housefly, you might have had the same result.. because that magot is a baby housefly... which is why I don't mind doing groceries, but REFUSE to do garbage!! That's a male job. I can not bear to see magots - and they're almost always there in summer.

I do know what they are, and yes, my hubby does that job here also.I bought the apples in a sealed container read the best before date and then put them in the fridge. I guess that is the problem, why do stores no longer care about ther customers. I think I may write a letter and give it to the manager. This is my favorite store that seems, the other option is a little more expensive and since prices keep going up I want to try to keep it as low priced as possible without giving up quality. Maybe I am living in a dream would.

Oh my, that is so gross. Once we were in a restaurant here in Croatia and I was munchin down on my salad, when I tried to cut a piece of salad and it was a little hard then I realized why, a big ol' ugly worm in my salad. Guess the cook through it in for extra protein. :0)

Oh yuck! So sorry that happened!
How wonderful, though, that you are doing well with losing weight like you hope to.
Thank you for your prayers for us recently and for Ally's birthday wishes. ;o)
