Blogger Friend School assignment #112
leafed in Blooger Friend School

Memory Verse: Romans 10:17 - So then faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the word of God.
Intro: America’s Favorite Dessert J-E-L-L-O - What we read affects what we believe. When we feed the Scriptures in our spirit, faith comes alive and becomes a living force within you.
Assignment: Write about your favorite ‘faith food’. Tell about the books of the Bible that you read that help to build your faith. Nurture the seeds of faith inside you. ex: Acorns become Oak trees.
This is something that I have been struggling with, it just seems that feeding my spirit has taken a back seat and I feel myself shriveling up inside. I admonish all of you out there if you are starting to slip in your bible reading catch yourself before it is too late or too hard. I am trying to put this first place again but am finding it hard to "go back to my first love".
Before I would take solace in the church age epistles written by Paul, how encouraging to read how the spirit guided these men and women. As I am struggling to right myself, I am finding psalm 51: 10-12 a balm for my soul ~
Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me. Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me. Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.
I am also leaning on Romans 8 and the book of Philipians. I may not be where I should be or want to be, but I am trying to get my eyes back to where they need to be.

I agree with that it can be difficult to get back to the meat of the Word. I will be posting my thoughts on my blog soon.
It is awesome to know thought that our wonderful God lets us dust ourselves (and Bibles) off and get moving toward Him again. :)

Thank you for sharing from your heart. I'm sure we all struggle with keeping up and staying on track with our first love. It's great to know that God gives us each new day to start over and He loves us still.

Those are passages that I cling too, as well.
I, too, have (am) struggled with feeling spiritually dry.
I am praying for you.
In addition to reading Scripture, memorizing It is crucial, too. If you'd allow me, I have a couple things I'd like to send to you. ;o) Please email me, if it's okay.
Hope you enjoy your week!

I totally understand what you are going through. I have a wonderful song for you to listen to. Go to my blog and click on the restore to me song. It is Psalm 51 set to music. It helped me out of the wilderness many a time. But know that God will use that wilderness time to strengthen you so that you can continue to have faith in Him. Rejoice in it sister!

Thursday, December 4, 2008 - About Passion
Blessing left by... RebeccaC
I was sharing with a friend some months ago that I wished I had the passion to read the Scriptures the way I do about a good novel -- or even a John Piper book. Why do I struggle so much?
Answer: because the enemy doesn't care if we read novels or John Piper books (too much). He just doesn't want us to read the Word, because the Word gives life and the enemy wants to steal, kill and destroy.
SO -- what do I do? I read my Bible -- several chapters a day -- whether I feel like it or not. Whether I want to or not. Whether I think I'm "getting anything from it" or not. It's a discipline and I just need to push through.
Y'know what? After a year of disciplining myself, I'm still more passionate about reading John Piper, but I'm more faithful about reading my Bible. ;^)
You're not alone! Realize that if you're under attack, the enemy must see you as a potential threat!
Bendiciones!
