This year off has been good for me. I have a better outlook on Homeschooling next year. We will not be using ABeka, but a variety of different things which I hope the children will find more interesting. I think they are getting tired of ABeka as some of the subjects tend to be a little repetitive. So we shall see how things go. I am excited about a new School Year, but I know that I have to be better prepared for each day, and be more firm in my rules and expectations of my children. I tend to be too much of a softee.
I found some really good books at a used book sale over the weekend which I will put to use next year! I can't wait ~ I am so excited ~ and I would be lying if I didn't say a little scared as well!

I have also found Abeka to be hard to use for homeschooling. I know you will do great this year!
I think every parent is scared a bit about teaching their children, but the Lord will help you through.
Have a great evening.

God bless you as you seek Him for guidance, direction, and g-r-a-c-e next year. I agree, ABeka is pretty rigorous if you do the entire curriculum, not to mention too pricey for us.

I have a few ABEKA books that I have tried here and there, but I can't make sense of them, and it is way too structured for us to use very well. We use a wide variety of things, Mathusee, Five In A Row, Apologia, Story of the World, and yes, just unschooling at times! I use one ABEKA book for my oldest, Themes in Literature, but we do it our way, not their way, and it works well. I am terrified of homeschooling in Nova Scotia, as we don't generally keep official records, we are not required to here. I have their books dated, and test marks written down and a loose record of things we do, so I am going to have to buckle down and keep my records much more organized!! I hope they aren't huge sticklers in Nova Scotia!!
