* Assignment #110 - Computers Help People Help People (IBM) *
Posted in Blogger Friend School
Memory Verse: Ephesians 4:29
"Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers."
Please try to learn our memory verse this week. We will be sharing a new verse every week and hope that you will store them in your hearts and find a special joy in His words.
Intro: Computers Help People Help People(Marketing credit: IBM)
There are many ways computers help us. It is a wonderful way to stay in touch with family far away, “meet” other christian women around the globe, and it can be such a blessing with homeschooling.
Assignment:
Share some of your favorite homeschooling sites. The only “rule” for this assignment is that you have to list at least one “free” site. Many homeschooling families have made the choice to live on very little income to do what they believe is best for their children and I want everyone to be able to benefit from this assignment. If you have other sites that are “paid” sites, feel free to include these also as it might be something someone would really appreciate. If you feel led, share your curriculum choices with us. I always love to learn what is out there that I don’t already know about. Please make sure to include links to the sites you share.
We are supposed to share some Homeschool Websites this week. Hmmm, let me see what I can find!

* BFS Assignment #109 We Bring Good Things To Life (GE) *
Posted in Blogger Friend School
Memory Verse: Philippians 4:8
In conclusion, brothers, focus your thoughts on what is true, noble, righteous, pure, lovable or admirable, on some virtue or on something praiseworthy.
The passion to sing, the passion to draw, the passion to build, the passion to ride, the passion for reading, the passion for nature… the list is endless. Some children exhibit their passion from day one, others need an experience to spark that passion
Assignment: Share a field trip/lifestyle learning experience where you really felt you were bringing good things to life for your children, where something came alive for them, or ignited a passion.
A man in our church builds furniture for a living. He kindly took our Homeschool group on a tour of the place where he works. My oldest son was quite impressed with what he saw. He brought home a piece of wood that was going to be thrown out, and has been working on a shelf with his father. I have no idea what this shelf looks like because I am not allowed to see it until it is finished, LOL! Now, I don't think my son has any plans on building furniture when he grows up, but I think he kind of likes the idea of being able to build something beautiful with his hands. It is nice to see him take an interest in something worth while!

* BFS #108 - Quality is Job #1 *
Posted in Blogger Friend School
Memory Verse: I Timothy 4:12-13 - Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity. Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine.
Intro: Quality is Job #1 (Ford)
Assignment: My family and I rarely do anything apart from each other. We don’t really have quality time together because all our time is together. We feel like the more special moments are when we have dinner together or when we worship God together. For this assignment, tell how you and your family spend QUALITY time together.
First of all, I am sooooo behind in my assignments!
Quality Time ~ sad to say, my family does not spend very much "quality" time together. Do I like this? NO!!!! It seems that we all get caught up in our own little worlds, that we very rarely spend a lot of time together. The times that we do spend together as a family though, are wonderful! For instance when we go the shore and walk along the rocks looking for crabs, shells, interesting rocks, and any other treasures we may find. Then, when it starts getting dark, we build a fire out of any driftwood we may have found, and roast marshmallows and hot dogs, or just sit and enjoy the fire and watching to sunset.

BFS Assignment #107- When Theres No Tomorrow (Mercury)
Posted in Blogger Friend School
Assignment: We only have today. Should God take you today, have you accomplished everything that you wanted to, needed to. Have you said all the things that needed to be said? Let’s have no regrets, let’s make sure we get to those things, so that when we’re standing before the Lord, the only thing we need to do is to worship him.. and not regret not getting to that thing on our to do list. Stop - go take care of that thing…. then, come tell us what you choose to share. Don’t embarrass yourself or any of your loved ones
Picture ideas: Be creative, go photograph something that “REPRESENTS” tomorrow. We can’t photograph time.. but we have ways of “showing” time in images.. how do you see “tomorrow”. This might be the only thing you choose to share about if you can’t publicly share what you needed to get done, and that’s alright too. Somethings are just to personal.
Share your favorite scripture in your post.
Wow! What an assignment! Really makes you stop and think about what is important. The one thing I would regret in life, if the Lord would chose to take me Home today would be not spending more quality time with my family. Even though there are five people living in this house, it seems like we all do our own thing. Yes, we share the same house, but that is about it. We are five individual people occupying the same space. This is not how I want things to be.
I want to (no I NEED to) take the time to read to my children (as big as they are), play games with my children, talk with my children about everyday things, about things that interest them, just plain DO things with my children.
The same goes with my Husband. I want him to be my best friend in this life. True friends are hard to come by in this world, and if you are married then your best friend should be the person you have committed your life too. In many ways I have failed my husband over and over again. I need to find out what is important to my husband. Find out what his dreams are, what his goals are for our family, and help him to achieve those goals and dreams.
So, if the Lord should decide to take me home, then my regret would be, not having accomplished the things mentioned above.
Here are a couple of pictures I would like to share with everyone.

BFS #106 Have It Your Way!
Posted in Blogger Friend School
Memory Verse: Isaiah 40: 1- Comfort ye, comfort ye my people, saith your God.
Intro: “Have It Your Way” (Burger King) - As cooler weather approaches and the winter eases into our doors I like to lounge by the fire after a hot shower. I love to make soups that are brimming with a rich and full flavor. In our home there’s nothing better than a hot bowl of soup or and a hot cup of coffee or cocoa on a cold winter night.
Assignment: Tell us all about how your have “your” relaxing time, more especially how during the cooler months you take time to curl up with your favorite movie, book, Bible study, and what your favorite warm drink would be.
"Relaxing Time" ~ Hmmmm, what is that???? Sometimes there doesn't seem to be enough hours in the day to "relax"! LOL! But when I can take time to just sit and do "nothing", I like to sit curled up on the couch, with a good book, a cup of hot coffee, and a quilt. Sometimes I like to knit, crochet, or work on a cross-stitch project as well.
We used to have our wood stove in the livingroom ~ which made it nice and cozy. Sitting in front of the fire, watching the flames through the glass was one of my favorite things to do, but since we installed a wood boiler in the basement, the wood stove was no longer needed. :o( Even though the stove is messy, I miss it sometimes! There is nothing like curling up in front of the fire with a good book and a soft, warm quilt wrapped around you, and a hot drink!
