BFS Assignment #105 - M’m M’m Good

Posted in Blogger Friend School

Memory Verse: Psalms 13:6 NIV
I will sing to the Lord, for He has been good to me.

Please try to learn our memory verse this week. We will be sharing a new verse every week and hope that you will store them in your hearts and find a special joy in His words.

Intro: M’m M’m Good (Campbell’s Soup)
The fall is such a wonderful time of year.  The beautiful foliage and cool, crisp morning air is such a wonderful change from the hot summer.  I also love the M’m M’m good smell of fall cooking and baking.  The wonderful fall veggies, fruits and Thanksgiving foods.

Assignment:  Post your favorite fall recipe/recipes to share.  I love trying new recipes, do you?  It can be baking, main dishes, veggies, dessert or anything else you can think of.  There are no limits.  Mmmmmm..I can’t wait to take a look at some of those recipes.

One of my favorite recipes is for an Apple Cinnamon Coffee Cake.  This cake is good anytime, but especially good when the apples used are fresh off of the tree!

Apple Cinnamon Coffee Cake

4 medium apples peeled and diced

1/3 cup of sugar

2 tsp cinnamon

3 cups of flour

1 Tbsp. baking powder

1 tsp. cinnamon

1/2 tsp. salt

1 cup vegetable oil

4 eggs, lightly beaten

1/2 cup cold coffee

1/2 cup milk

2 1/2 tsp. vanilla

Glaze

1 cup light brown sugar

1/2 cup butter

1/4 cup cream

1 tsp. vanilla

Preheat oven to 325*.  Spray bundt pan with cooking spray.  Mix apples, 1/3 cup of sugar and cinnamon.  Put over bottom of pan.  Mix flour, 2 1/2 cups of sugar, baking powder, cinnamon and salt in bowl.  Make a well in center and set aside.  In separate bowl, mix oil, eggs, coffee, milk and vanilla.  Combine with dry ingredients.  Pour batter over apple mix.  Bake for 1 hour.  Cool on rack.  Glaze ~ When cake is completely cooled, bring brown sugar, butter and cream to a boil in a small pot over medium high heat, stirring constantly.  Remove from heat once the mixture just comes to a boil, and stir in vanilla.  Beat the glaze with a wooden spoon until it is cooled and thick enough to glaze the cake.  Serves 10 - 12

BFS #104 - Never Leave Home Without It!

Posted in Blogger Friend School

Memory Verse: Matthew 28: 20 - Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you:  and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the world. Amen.

Intro: Never Leave Home Without It (Marketing Credit:  American Express) Diapers, bottles, wipes, bibs, pacifiers, extra clothing, cell phone, PDA, ipod, iphone, credit or debit cards … what would you never leave home without?

Assignment: In the memory verse Jesus tells us that He will never leave us, not even at the end of the world.  He assures us in this verse that He will be with us and that means through everything we go through in life.  I thought it would be interesting to write about the things we would never leave home without.  For some it might be baby needs, others it might be a gym bag and bottle of water, and for some  it might be your Bible and a notepad or small journal, maybe even your son or daughters favorite blankie!  I’d like for you to write about something that you would never leave home without.

Well, I can honestly say that I am past the stage where I have to carry a diaper bag with me everywhere!  My children are 14, 12, and 10.  There really isn't a whole lot I carry with me.  I do have my wallet with me at all times.  Boring I know, but it does contain my kids' health cards ~ you just never know when something will happen and a trip to the hospital may be needed.

I also carry my camera with me in my purse.  You just never know when you will come across something that would make an awesome picture!  My husband bought me the cutest little digital camera last year.  It is small and PINK!!!!  I just love it!

So my "necessary" things are not very exciting, but they are practical!

BFS Assignment #103 It keeps going, and going, and going…. (Energizer)

Posted in Blogger Friend School

Intro: It keeps going, and going, and going…. (Marketing credit: Energizer)

Housekeeping: that household mess, it keeps going and going and going. It’s a perpetual chore that we diligently need to keep going on to stay on top it. We all have different ways of keeping ourselves energized.

Assignment:
How do you keep energized so you can get it all done? bouncy music? treat it like a workout? Do you use a schedule?, a housekeeping binder system? luck of the draw system?.. or is this an area where you need encouragement? Do you need God’s help to keep order and beauty in your dwelling place? Take this week to tell us how You diligently keep going with your housekeeping chores.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I can honestly say that I am not like the Energizer Bunny at all!  I find it very difficult to get everything done!  Between School and doing the everyday things that need to be done, I really struggle with getting the two completed.  When I am cleaning my house, there is loads of correcting to be done, and the same is true for the housework.  It just never seems to get done!  I wish there was some "magic" formula or schedule to get everything done!
I look forward to visiting others to see how they manage to do things.
BFS Assignment #102 - Try it, You’ll Like It!
Posted in Blogger Friend School
Click on above banner to read more assignments!
Intro: Try it, you’ll like it! (Life Cereal)
When everyone else was afraid to try Life Cereal, they called on Mikey. Sometimes stepping out of our comfort zone is just too scary. Have you felt God gently (or maybe not so gently) nudging you to do something for someone else? You know that it needs to be done, but you keep putting it off because it is outside of your comfort zone? Well ladies, this week we are taking a step outside of our comfort zones.
Assignment: This week I want you to do something for someone else. Do you have a neighbor that needs you? Do you know an elderly person or single mom that could use you? What about the homeless? Pack even one single sack lunch and give it to someone in need. Do you know someone in blogland that is struggling right now and could use a note from you about how much you care? Pray about this. Let God put on your heart the perfect thing for you to do for another. Now, here is the kicker…I DO NOT want you to post about what you do. Whatever you choose to do is between you and God. Our rewards are in heaven, not here on earth, Mathew 6:1. I want you to post about how doing this “act” made you feel. Was stepping out of your comfort zone in this area as hard as you thought it might be? Could you see the gratefulness in their eyes? Hear it in their voice? Tell it from their typing? Do you think you might make doing things like this a more regular part of your time?  If this is an area that you are already active in, tell us how you feel this has impacted your life.
What a wonderful assignment!  Random Acts of Kindness ~ This is what I thought of as I read the above.  My husband and I have done things for others in the past who were in need of something.  What a blessing it is to me to be able to help someone, hopefully without them finding out who did it!  When the Lord blesses us with something, it is nice to pass that blessing along to someone else.
This assignment brought to mind a friend of mine who is hurting right now, and I believe I will send a card off to her.  It isn't much, but maybe it will be a bright spot in her otherwise gloomy day.  Hopefully it will encourage her, and maybe let her know that she is not alone, and that she has friends who care about her.
Even though it is a blessing to help others, I have been reminded over and over again to let people help me, when I need it, and try not to do eveything myself.  I have been reminded that if I don't accept someone's offer of help, I may be robbing them of their possible blessing!  I had never thought of it that way before!
So I guess this can go both ways!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I have been enjoying these assignments very much! A big thanks to all of the Teachers!
