It was two years ago today that I started my Blog! Boy, where has the time gone???? I started "A Place to Call Home" when a friend of mine told me about Homeschool Blogger, and I am so glad that she did (even though she no longer "blogs"). I have met so many wonderful people over the last couple of years, and I look forward to meeting many more!
Have a blessed day dear friends!
The Simple Woman's Daybook
I have seen this on a number of blogs, and thought I would join in as well. Please visit The Simple Woman to read how you can take part in The Simple Woman's Daybook. Please make sure you follow the guidlines as laid out clearly here.

FOR TODAY ~ June 9, 2008
Outside My Window ~ The sun is shining, the birds are singing their cheerful song, the air smells clean and fresh after the rain last night.
I am Thinking ~ of my Dad who is in the hospital. He will be having a feeding tube inserted today, and I am praying that it will not be too uncomfortable for him.
I am thankful for ~ I am thankful that my brothers were able to come home from the U.S. to visit with my Dad. I am thankful for a loving husband that helps me get through the rough times. I am thankful for my children. I am thankful for a loving Saviour, who loves me even when I am unloveable.
From the Kitchen ~ Tonight we will be having baked Ham with pineapple sauce, mashed potatoes, carrots, and turnip. Hopefully we will be having Birthday Cake (for me! :o) ) made by my wonderful husband!
I am wearing ~ A jean skirt, and a tan colored T-shirt
I am creating ~ I am working on a cross-stitch of an antique Singer sewing machine and a quilt.
I am going ~ to have some routine bloodwork done tomorrow and then I will visit my dad for awhile since I will be at the hospital anyway!
I am reading ~ "Beautiful Girlhood" by Karen Andreola
I am hoping ~ that we can start working on our new bedroom soon. We have a room in the basement of our house that we would like to "make over" into a bedroom for my hubby and I. A room that will be much cooler than the one upstairs!
I am hearing ~ the cars driving by and the birds chirping away!
Around the house ~ I have a lot of tidying up to do today! We are trying to declutter ~ get rid of those things that are absolutely NOT needed and are just laying around inthe way. Boy! What a hard thing it is to get rid of useless "treasures".
One of my favorite things ~ I love to sit and listen to sound of the waves crashing on the rocks at the shore and to hear the seagulls flying over head.
A few plans for the rest of the week ~ Plans this week.....Hmmmm, I'm not real sure yet what we will be doing this week, other than the same old everyday routines. We do have a Wedding we are supposed to go to on Saturday, but I guess that all depends on finances (gas is outrageous don't you know!), and how my Dad is doing by the weekend.
Here is a picture thought I am sharing ~
Since I haven't really blogged anything in awhile, I thought I would play "catch up", so I will be going back and let you all know what has been going on at "A Place to Call Home".
May 11 ~ Mother's Day ~ My husband had to work the whole "Mother's Day" weekend (just like he did last year!). He was working nights ~ 7 p.m.- 7 a.m. ~ so he slept all day Sunday. He did give me a wonderful gift though before he headed off to sleep for the day! I have started collecting "tea things" ~ especially "tea for one" sets. Well, he picked up the cutest tea for one set! I just love it! Today (May 23) is the first time I have used it and it is just perfect. This is what my wonderful husband gave me!

My children each made me something. My oldest copied a poem that he found ~ which I have to admit made me cry when I read it (and it still does!). This is what he wrote:
Mom, you're a wonderful mother,
So gentle yet so strong.
The many ways you show you care
Always make me feel I belong.
You're patient when I'm foolish;
You give guidance when I ask;
You're the master of every task.
You're a dependable source of comfort
You're my cushion when I fall.
You help in times of trouble;
You support me whenever I call.
I love you more than I can express;
You have my total respect.
If I had a choice of mothers,
You'd be the one I'd select.
My daughter made me a beautiful card, and again, I cried when I read it!

Here are 10 Reasons why I love you.
1. You help me when I'm sad.
2. You teach me about God.
3. You love me.
4. You love me even when I'm bad.
5. You understand my problems.
6. You show me all kinds of neat things.
7. You help me when I hurt.
8. You help me with my problems.
9. You love me when I do silly mistakes.
10. I love you because you're my mom and I would never want anyone else beside you for a mom.
My youngest made me the cutest "card" on the computer.

I can truly say that I am a blessed woman! The Lord has given me such a wonderful husband, and three wonderful children! My Mother's day was simply perfect in every way!

My husband and I have decided that over the next few years we are going to fix our house up (inside and out) and then sell it and buy our "Dream House". Well the first step in this long process is to start decluttering! We have so much "stuff". We have been in our current house for 11 years, and what a lot of junk I mean "treasures" we have accumulatded over the past 11 years.
Now, I could box everything up and save it for the summer when Yard Sale season starts, but I want it out of my house NOW!!!! So I have been putting it on Freecycle, and people are wanting my junk I mean treasures! What a blessing it is to get this stuff out of my house! As I see each person leave with a bag of books, or a box of "treasures" it is like another burden lifted from my shoulders! What a blessing!
Well, I have people coming today to pick up more things, and then I am off to start sifting through another 11 years worth of "stuff".
Just thought I would share a little of what is going on here at "A Place to call Home". Nothing really exciting, but just a little peak into our day!
Hope you all have a blessed day!
