Blogging Slump

Posted in Everyday Happenings

I seem to have hit a blogging slump.  I sit here trying to think of something wonderful and interesting to write, but I just draw a blank.  I guess my life is just too boring and nothing exciting is happening right now.

Not unless you consider having no sink in your bathroom "exciting".  My husband set out last night to install a new faucet in my sink.  Well he ended up finding out that our sink was completely rusted out underneath and we need to replace it!  So that means we wash wash our face and hands and brush our teeth in the kitchen sink.

We also found out that our 14 year old son has hypertrophy of the heart ~ the muscle tissue surrounding his heart is enlarged.   He will need to see a Specialist regarding this, and probably have further testing done.  I am a little nervous about this, but praying that I will remain calm so as not to cause my son to be even more nervous than he already is.

My husband will be away on Course for five weeks in February (home on weekends, though).  He has started a new position at his work, and because of it, has to take some courses for his new job.  His workplace provides him with a vehicle to travel back and forth, a suite to stay in while he is away, and they pay for all of his meals while he is there as well!  What a blessing that is!

We have finally started back with our school work as well.  Christmas Break was nice, but we must now return to the "Real World".  We are praying about our Schooling situation for next year.  My son will be in Grade 10, and I am not confident that I can give him what he needs in order to further his education in the future.  We are praying about enrolling the kids either in Public School, or the Christian School that our church has started.  Lots of decisions to be made, but I know the Lord will lead us in the direction we should take!

Winter is Here!

Posted in Everyday Happenings

Well, our first snowfall of the season hit us Friday night.  Were we prepared.  NO!  Usually our first snow of the year is just a light dusting.  Not this year!  It has snowed for three days!!!!  I was definitely NOT expecting this!  We still have our summer tires on the van!

My boys went to spend the night at a friend's house Friday, and were supposed to come home yesterday.  They are still there!  Hopefully they will make it home after lunch today.  I went out and shoveled the end of the driveway and around the van ~ hoping to go pick up my boys.  No such luck.  My van is stuck in the ice at the bottom of the driveway!  Did I mention that I really dislike shoveling wet, heavy snow!  Give me the soft, flaky stuff ~ not a problem.

Our driveway is still full of snow (our snow blower doesn't work), but that's okay ~ it's going to rain Tues, Wed. and Thurs. and all of the snow will be gone!  You gotta love this CRAZY weather!  It was 20* C last week!

Cricut!

Posted in Everyday Happenings

For my new friend Michelle, who wanted to know what a "Cricut" was (I wrote about this in a previous post here # 15 ), here is a picture of it:

This is what Cricut.com has to say about this nifty little machine:

"The Cricut Personal Electronic Cutter machine is the future of home crafting. Simply by touching a button, Cricut can cut beautiful designs and alphabets for card making, scrapbooking, and paper crafting.

No computer is required, just plug it in. Place your favorite cartridge in your Cricut and choose from hundreds of designs in 12 different sizes; ranging from 1" to 5-1/2"! That's thousands of possibilities! Cutting customized shapes and alphabets has never been easier.

The Cricut machine weighs only 7 lbs and comes with the George & Basic Shapes cartridge, to get you started.
"

I am looking forward to figuring out how this thing works!

Hello ~ Life Continues

Posted in Everyday Happenings

Well, my Dad has been in Glory for a week now.  I sure wish he could tell me what Heaven is like.  The Bible says that it is a beautiful place, and now my Dad knows first hand.  I can just imagine the conversations my dad has had with the Lord already.  What a time he must be having!  Even though I miss my father very much, I would never wish him here again.  He is now Parkinson's free!  He can run and jump and eat to his heart's content!

Life must continue on for us.  The last 8 + weeks have been very difficult for our family, but the Lord has been by our side the whole time.  He never left us alone, even when we thought we couldn't make it another day, He was there gently guiding us along.

I am going to be busy the next little while, trying to restore order to my home, and preparing for a new year of Homeschooling.  Hopefully I can get back to "blogging" more regularly as well.  I sure have missed my on-line friends, but I am sure you all understand my absence.

I pray you are all having a wonderful day.

It was two years ago today that I started my Blog!  Boy, where has the time gone????  I started "A Place to Call Home" when a friend of mine told me about Homeschool Blogger, and I am so glad that she did (even though she no longer "blogs").  I have met so many wonderful people over the last couple of years, and I look forward to meeting many more!

Have a blessed day dear friends!
