Sep. 21, 2007 - ~Where to Begin~

It's a rainy drizzly day out, I know I should be dragging the books out and having Paul Ryan practice his writing, but can you say "unmotivated"? In EVERY sense of the word.

Since the "new bundle of joy" arrived I've been so sleep deprived I'm not sure which way is which. I've lost all sense of direction, motivation, don't know whether I'm coming or going, which way is up or down. If I sit for to long I'll fall asleep, and with other small children whom need CONSTANT attention that's not a good thing to do. So I try to keep moving and you know your home can only be soooooo clean. My patience are wearing very thin. So now I need to think of stuff t keep the kiddos occupied that they can do somewhat with little or no 1:1 from me since most of my day is spent holding a crying baby. He only wants to sleep in my arms and I know it's only a stage I went through this with the other 2 kiddos. But If I lay him down to "cry" the other 2 kids think they need to take care of him and so we're having issues with that.

Oh Lord please help me not to go crazy.

I have sooo been there. You are so far ahead of what I was doing with Lauren at that age. Learning through play is so great at this age. The story about PR finding the rocks is an awesome way to teach them at that age. Just look up Geology on the internet and you can see pics of the rock you found. Another great web site is Answers in Genesis. PR is such an active little guy he probably will learn better on the run. Through the letters cards on the floor and have him jump on the ones he knows the sounds of. Maybe teach him a new one a week in the mix on the floor of the ones he knows. My kids loved to jump on the letters. With Lauren, I would through them on the floor in the kitchen while I was making dinner with Sarah holding my leg and Jake in the bouncy seat on the counter. Exhausting but fun times. Don't push your self. Oh I just thought of something else. Reading living books (Clasical Books-Chapter Books) to the kids teaches them more than you could ever imagine. It also brings up great conversation. Read Read Read!!!! Hang in there you are doing an awesome job.

Love,
Lisa

Wenddie, I feel for you I know how hard things are for you right now! All I can say is this too shall pass!
But...do you know other mothers who home school yet? Sometimes they have activities or subjects they share and Paul Ryan could go there once in awhile.
Next, you need to look for an older lady at church who either doesn't have grandchildren or whose grandchildren are far away and befriend her. See if she would come and watch the kids and hold the baby for a couple of hours so you can catch a nap or just lay and relax. You have got to get help, that is why God made other people we are supposed to help each other!! I will pray this can happen!
Meanwhile I send my love and ask for prayers as I head for an MRI today.
Love Lenore
