A Day in the Life...

Update

It's been quite a while since I last sat down to type on my blog. Sooo here goes.  Today we didn't get to attend church like I wanted to, due to not having the money for gas. (Gas prices are raking us over the coals right now...like everyone else I'm sure) Our new church is a half an hour away and we are on less than a quarter tank. We would've definitely had to fill up. We have no money until the hubby gets paid on Friday, but we have groceries so I'm happy.  I did get some time in today to catch up on some homeschool stuff though. I had just purchased a spelling program that I can use from ages 8 thru college (so it says).  My brain hasn't been wanting to fully function lately, but today I felt that I could concentrate on it. I sat down and started to read through the introduction, directions, etc. Sounds easy enough and not too time consuming. Having three of my four girls in school right now, I need something streamlined. This is exactly that. I have to watch the cd yet, on my compy, to drill it in my head a little better though. From what I've got though, it sounds great. I'm really looking forward to starting to use it with them within the next week. Wish I would've found it sooner though, so I'm not starting so late in the year with a spelling curriculum. I started out making my own, but didn't go quite as I had hoped. Oh well. That's what the drawing board is for...to go back to it! ha ha! I'll also be incorporating new geography and grammar lessons into our curriculum. Also, the older two want to start learning Spanish. Since I can't afford an expensive course right now, I bought them each a Spanish workbook at Walmart. We'll do a little bit each week. I should be able to help pretty well with it, as I took both French and Spanish in high school and am currently learning Hebrew. (Yep! I LOVE to learn new languages!)

I also made a little dent in the housework, with my girls' help! They are such wonderful helpers! Always eager to do something for mommy! I love 'em. They helped to do the dishes while I did laundry.  They also made lunch for the four of them...even their baby sister. They are getting so independent!

We spent the last little bit of our evening watching Disney's "Twice Upon A Christmas".  It was cute..but I really like Mickey's Christmas Carol best.    We've been sitting down on the couch for all the holiday specials that have started popping up. What fun to huddle all together under a warm blanket, turn out the lights, enjoy a snack and a holiday special! Yep, we're typical girls! We watched "Polar Express" the other night...a new favorite of ours. So much fun!

Update on my thumb!! Well, it's healed on the OUTSIDE (stitches out a week and a half ago), but still hurts for some reason on the INSIDE. You can't even tell I got cut. Well, you can a little. But not much! However, whenever I squeeze the dishsoap bottle, shampoo bottle, grab something to pick up, the steering wheel of our van, pull on the covers at night....i feel a sharp pain in my thumb. It feels as though something is gonna snap. I've felt it and it hurts to press on. I can feel a small groove, but don't know if it's in the bone or not...or if I cut a tendon or something. Who knows. I am certain that it's not normal but don't know if it will be the same again. Did it heal wrong? I dunno. I guess time will tell.

Dec. 5, 2007 - Hi There!

Thanks for stopping by the McCHEO blog. You are most welcome to stop by my personal blog, Buckeyeblog, any ol' time, too!

Your blog is so sweet. I can relate ALOT w/your money blues. We've had what seems to be more than our share. But we feel that me staying home is the Lord's will for our lives and that Satan will do everything he can to get us moms out of the house and away from our children. As hard as it is sometimes, we just choose to call his bluff! lol

We also know about gas $$ and going to church. Our church is a 70 mile round trip for us. But we have been there a little over 11 years and we feel called to be at that church and called to live where we live, so we trust the Lord to make a way and if/when we spare the $$ for gas to get there, then there must be a reason for us to stay home. It could be anything from drawing us closer to each other to saving us from a car accident.

I'm with you...I just love watching all those old Christmas movies and specials all warm and bundled up on the couch w/our family! I agree...Mickey's Christmas Carol is great! But...you just can't beat the old Allister Simms' "real" version of the story. We found a colorized DVD of it last year, cheap, at Wal Mart.

I hope you visit again.

Blessings, Kim Wolf<><
