A Day in the Life...

Not A Good Day

Today my husband left for Michigan until Thursday or Friday. Not sure which day he will be returning. His grandmother had a heart attack a week and a half ago. They stabalized her for a while, and were considering bypass surgery. Well, she was way too weak for the procedure, according to the anesthesiologist. Just this morning, her lungs completely failed her...they have her on a lung machine. It is doing all the work; she can no longer breathe without it. So, following her wishes, they will be taking her off of the lung machine tomorrow morning (Sunday) and letting her pass peacefully, under sedation. My heart broke for my hubby as he cried for his grandmother this morning. I could do nothing to ease his pain and the sadness he will have to endure while up there this week. The only happiness, and the best in my opinion, that I could point out to him was that she would be with Jesus! Also, she would be with her own hubby once again...who passed five years ago this month. It eased his sadness a little, but I know he still will miss her. So, he left this afternoon to say "good-bye" to her.  We would have all gone, but evidently the ICU at this particular hospital will not let our girls in to see their great-grandma before she goes.  Yes, this upset me quite a bit, but I cannot change the rules or force our way in. Instead, I made a short video of the girls on my camera, with a sound clip attached that says "We love you grandma!". I sent it to my hubby's email so he can play it for her (she is still conscious, just on the machine).  He took his laptop, since he is still in school and has assignments due during the week...though he is having a great deal trouble concentrating on any of it.  I hope she gets to see the girls, via the video, before she passes. Meanwhile, my eldest is heartbroken that she won't get to hug her again. Once again, I let her know that she will be so much happier where she is going and will be waiting for us to one day join her.  Keep our family in your prayers.
