Vista problems

We got our two eldest girls Be-Bratz dolls for Christmas. (thank goodness hubby gets a holiday check each Nov. or we'd have no gifts) We thought it would be something fun for them to play with online that they wouldn't have to go dinkin' around the net to do. Anywhoooo.....We took it out of the packages for them, throwing the boxes out with the rest of the boxes of other gifts. (mistake!) Well, we plugged in the little usb key into the compy and it immediately downloaded the drivers for it. I'm thinking 'okay, here we go.' NOPE! It didn't do a thing. So, I got the hubby in here, since he's the computer whiz of the family. He plugged in the usb key once more...messed around a little, and found out that their Be-Bratz are NOT COMPATIBLE with VISTA!!!! I was so mad...mainly with myself. The boxes were thrown out already (trash came and got 'em) and can't return them. My girls are so disappointed. Our only option is to downgrade my computer to a lower Windows operating system..like 2000 or XP, which are the only two that the Bratz site said they were compatible with. This isn't totally bad, in that the hubby can back up my files, photos,etc. However, the only thing he cannot back up is my HOMESCHOOL TRACKER!!!! I am going to have to copy everything by hand that I have logged in there, then re-install the tracker and enter it all again!!! I am dreading this. I would print all the stuff up if I could, but our printer is out of ink. We dont have the money to get more either. Ugh...so this coming week ought to be funfilled copying. More hair-pullin' fun! NOT! But I can't just not let them play with their new gifts either. It won't hurt my compy any for me to downgrade...just an inconvenience mainly. Oh well. Fun, fun fun. |
