A Day in the Life...

Sleepwalking

After staying up late last night with my twin sis ( a common occurrence when we get together, but stupid the night before co-op and gym), getting various things at Walmart and Kroger, I was running on very little steam today. I had a whole 2-3 hours sleep...I THINK. I barely managed to pull myself from slumber this morning on the recliner (I LOVE to sleep in it, cause it's so fluffy and comfy and doesn't hurt my back!!). My kids kept reminding me every few minutes that we had co-op today and WE had to bring snacks! Uh oh!! I was up! I quickly showered (as quick as you can when you are still sleeping while standing...ha ha!) We were then out the door with bags full of goodies for the kids at co-op. We had a terrific day there. Yes, I was conscious and enjoyed myself...despite the constant burning in my eyes. Next, we drove home and ate a quick 'lunch'. I grabbed a couple of my magazines that I hadn't completely finished (NGJ and TOS) and the girls' swimsuits for the YMCA for gym. My 7 yr old begged me before leaving the house to let her do the swimtest at the Y, since she wasn't old enough to be in there without me. I knew she wasn't ready, but conceded to let her try. So, we were off to the YMCA...and I wanted to fall over. When we arrived, I gave my eldest the money to pay for our 'group' and let them go to their classes. Me...I looked for a seat. I found one at a wobbly checker table...the one I usually sit at. However, a friend offered me a seat at her table, wtih her other friends. A nice group of older women, full of laughter. I read a little, conversed a bit (which was fun, as always), and read a little more. I desperately tried to stay conscious throughout. It wasn't boring conversation at all...quite entertaining!  I just was getting too tired and my eyes must've looked like they were drooping shut. Oh well. My 7 yr old came out from class and wanted me to escort her to her swimtest. So, away we went. She was nervous and I told her not to be upset if she wasn't able to complete the test. The lifeguard then helped her enter the pool properly and instructed her on what she was expected to do. She then told her to 'swim'. My daughter made it two feet and quickly grabbed the side of the pool. She was gasping for air and spewing water. She had obviously swallowed some instead of holding her breath. She started to cry and said she didn't want to continue. We helped her out of the pool and I began to talk about swim lessons with the lifeguard. By this time, my daughter was sobbing and in tears. She kept covering her eyes with her towel while convulsing with each sob. I tried to calm her down, but she kept crying harder, telling me how she wanted to go swimming. I felt aweful. Evidently, I will have to bring a swimsuit soon and get in with her, or get her into lessons SOON. It took a while to talk her out of her crying, while in the locker room, but she finally stopped. She got dressed and we went back out into the lobby area. I got a renewal application for our membership, filled it out, and tried to turn it in. I was forgetting the 'income verification'. Oops! That will have to wait til another day then. My 7 yr old finished the duration of the Y visit at the checker table playing with a friend and playing in the 'multi-purpose room'. She and her sisters were finally done and we headed home. Me...exhausted...dropped the older two off at home with the hubby and took my 7 yr old to the stationary store to look for a couple homeschool supplements. I found some of what I was looking for, but not all. They didn't offer the other stuff. Oh well. I wasn't in the physical state to even be upset about it. I bought what I needed and left. FINALLY! I was home!!! Hubby took our van to get fixed (tires wobbling...thought it was a ball joint). I stayed and let the girls play outside and ride their bikes. Our little one stayed in with me. Yet..no rest yet. My kitchen was wrecked and needed to do some laundry and dishes badly. Oh well...to work I go. I swept the kitchen, changed the trash, washed a load of clothes and washed some pots n pans (along with loading the others dishes in the dishwasher). Then it was time to rest....maybe. Nope..phone calls. Then kids yelling for me outside. Then the little one needed me. Then more yelling outside for me. It was pointless to sit down. Finally, my hubby arrived home. Our van was fixed...turned out just to be the tire belts that had broke. Saved us quite a bit of money being we just needed two new front tires. So now, I have a little bit of rest between the laundry and dishwasher to type..as going to sleep isn't an option YET. I have to wait til those are done. And I have a fundraiser to go to tonight, for my nephew, in Dayton. Ugh. I want to help out, but I am SOOOO tired!!!! I will go though. They may have to drag me around, but I will go. That has been my day til now. Wish me luck folks!! I may have to resort to toothpicks to prop my lids open! Laters! Laundry's done!
