A Day in the Life...

Just Another Day

Whew! It's hot outside today...at least here. Don't know about the rest of the country. It's a balmy 91 degrees right now when I called the time/temp line. Lovely. It's kinda humid out, but not as much as earlier this week when it was a lower temp. My girls played in the water yesterday with our hose...and each got a mild sunburn despite me lathering them in WATERPROOF/SWEATPROOF sunblock. Yeah right. Well, that stuff obviously doesn't work. They weren't even out there that long either. Ugh. Plus, one of my daughters broke out from the stuff. (psst! Don't get NO-AD Babies 45 spf 'hypoallergenic' sunblock)

They wanted to play in the water again today, but they need a break from the sun (cause of the burns...uh hem!) Also, we can't exactly afford to keep our water running constantly while they play in it. We have a pool to set up for them, but need a bunch of sand to reinforce it at the base evidently. So, have to wait til we can get that too. Ugh. So, they are hiding out inside right now...in their rooms...playing or occupying themselves in some other fashion. As long as they're not arguing or beating on each other I'm fine.

I called the copay assistance place to check on my other daughter's status. Still nothing. It's still in review.  Bummer. I plan on calling back in another day or two...you know, just to hound them.  We REALLY need her meds too. I also called my docs office to get more bloodwork ordered for my own endo visit in July. I thought I had all the tests with my last bloodworkup...I mean, afterall, they took NINE vials!!! Geesh. Anywhooo...had a couple more tests added and will have those taken in the next day or two. I think I have to fast but am not sure. So, I'll be fasting...better safe than sorry.

I've been relaxing a little today. I've done a little laundry, dishes, a little paperwork cleanup, and dinner. I have put some beans on to cook most of the day (pintos...also affectionately known to southerners as 'soup beans').  I will be cooking some fried potatoes and corn bread to go along with them. Yes, I grew up with a lot of southern cooking in my house. This was the main meal that is easy to cook, for me, though. The kids are okay with it so long as they get to put some ketchup on their beans and potatoes and butter on their cornbread. Me...I used to make sop (aka fried cornmeal) for my beans, but noone liked it but me. So, I no longer make that. But overall...this is a cheap and easy meal to make for the lot of us. I can also use the leftover soup beans to make bean cakes tomorrow for lunch! Yum! My girls love those.

Well...I have some potatoes to peel and a daily walk to take as well. Laters!
