A Day in the Life...

Ahh...Those Good Ol' Days!

I just read my friend, Kim's blog. It was a pretty funny tag about things from 'childhood'. So, I thought I'd follow suit and answer the questions. Here goes!

What were your 3 favorite things to watch on TV when you were a kid?

1. Little House on the Prairie

2.  The Dukes of Hazard

3. Knight Rider

(I also watched The Muppet Show, The A-Team, Buck Rogers, Family Ties, and The Cosby Show!...sorry...there were so many to choose from!! And that doesn't even include all the cartoons! ha ha!)

What 3 commercials do you remember most from when you were a kid?

1. The Doublemint Twins for Wrigley's Doublemint Gum (I can't help it...it's a twin thing.)

2.  The big black guy with the turban from Annie and the 7UP Spot together

3.  The Nair commerical where the girls sang in a kickline "We where short shorts!" (I always wondered what the big deal was about them wearing shorts...such an innocent time,eh?)

What 3 toys were popluar when you were a kid?

1. Barbies

2. Cabbage Patch Dolls

3. Strawberry Shortcake

(also My Pretty Ponies, Cabbage Patch Kusas & Premies, Care Bears, Star Wars Action figures, Dukes of Hazard action figures, & Thundercats...ha! ha! ha! And they've brought half of those back now for my kids to play with! woohoo!)

What 3 things did not exist when you were a kid?

1. DVD's  2. Cell phones  3. Laptop computers

What 3 fads did you fall for when you were a kid?

1.  Leg warmers (that whole Flashdance/Fame phase when I was in 4th grade)

2. Having big bangs...us girls' hair, that is.  (mine were big, but there were girls at my school that looked like they had satellite dishes attached to the fronts of their heads! ha!)

 3.  pegged jeans. (yep, sad)

What 3 songs do you remember most from when you were a kid?

1. Thriller by Michael Jackson (I was in 4th grade...a good year!)

 2. Glory of Love by Peter Cetera

 3. Everything I Do by Bryan Adams.

What were your 3 favorite movies when you were a kid?

1. Ghost Busters  2. Flight of the Navigator 3. Space Camp

(I also loved musicals...Sound of Music, Mary Poppins, Hello Dolly, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, as well as Disney cartoons...in particular The Little Mermaid)

What are your 3 most embarrassing moments from when you were a kid?

1. Getting a very bad case of the flu in 6th grade that resulted in me running to the bathroom with BAD diarrhea and vomitting...and no..I didnt make it in time for either. I stayed in there til  my mom came to get me.

2. I sneezed in 8th grade science and a HUGE wad of snot came out my nose. I had to cover it with one hand (had no tissue) while I raised my other hand so I could be excused...only to be made to have to explain in front of everyone why I had my other hand on my face. Nice...and humiliating.

 3. Another 8th grade horror story....My homeroom class was having silent reading when I sneezed yet again (different day)...and I farted at the same time...Yep..it was dead silent in there when this happened. I just kept on reading and pretended I didn't hear it. Yeah...that worked. NOT!!!

Did you notice that all three of those involved bodily functions? Man...aweful...just aweful.

What 3 things do you wish you could get back from when you were a kid?

1. That sense that time passes much slower

2. My days at church camp

 3. My energy

...of LAUGHTER!! Oh my goodness! I haven't laughed that loud and long at my 'puter for a long time. Bless your heart...your embarrassing moments win...HANDS DOWN!

I had a VERY embarrassing moment in high school (since this was about childhood and not teen years, I didn't include it...). I was @ King's Island w/a guy I had a crush on and the VERY 1st RIDE WE WENT ON was 1 of those rides where it spins, gravity holds you to the wall and the floor falls out from beneath you. (It's not there anymore.) Well...after our long ride there what I SHOULD have done was go to the restroom 1st...did I?...Oh no...cause THAT would have been the SMART thing to do! So...this guy was hysterically funny and as we started spinning he started saying funny things about the people across from us that only I could hear...more spinning, more gravity, more laughing...I told him he needed to stop 'cause I was going to have an accident if he didn't. He didn't. I BEGGED him...which, of course, just made BOTH of us laugh harder. Finally, I said, "Too late!" In case you didn't know it...when you start to pee on a gravity ride...things get much worse, much faster than you could ever have thought! My jeans were SOAKED and there wasn't a thing I could do to stop it!!

Fortunately, he was a wonderful guy and actually - laughingly - felt a little guilty for what happened and he was great enough to wait about an hour for me to go into the restroom, wash out my jeans and air dry them on the blow dryer! After that, we had a WONDERFUL day! Hahaha! He even figured out the "trick" to a game at the Arcade and won me about 20 stuffed animals! We couldn't carry them around so we gave all but 3 to little kids.

Blessings, Kim Wolf<><

Thank you! Thank you very much! (bowing) Yes, they were pretty humiliating...but yes, I CAN laugh about them now! ha ha! I'm glad I gave ya a good laugh though, Kim. I love to make people smile...and sometimes cry & snort with laughter. :)
Your King's Island experience was pretty bad. Yep, I'd have been in the bathroom sobbing from the embarrassment...especially if I were with a guy I liked!! You are MUCH braver than I.

We must be about the same age because mine would read pretty similar to your's! I just asked someone the other day that since skinny jeans were back, would pegged jeans be next? Please no.
