Today I had our girls' portfolio evaluations done. It was quite nice. But of course, it's always nice to see Kim! She's such a sweet person. I so enjoyed talking with Kim. It's not often that I get out to see other adults (other than family) to just sit and chit chat with. It was nice. Also, her newest lil dog is so adorable!!! Looks like a lil black scotty dog! Too cute. Oh...be sure to ask her about her Jumanji plant. Anywhoooo...I brought in everything I could think of that we did. I even brought over a cd of photos from activities throughout the year, which included co-op activity photos, our trip to the Creation Museum, and pics of their art projects at the local library (which we didn't get to look at...they were at the end of the cd). However, for the past two days my eldest daughter and me have been looking for her second semester writing notebook (a red High School Musical notepad). I had told her to keep it in her school cubby (each of my girls have a cubby at my computer desk). Evidently, she had taken it out at some point in time...or her little 4 yr old sis did...who tends to do things like this often. The notebook was nowhere to be found...nowhere! I tore our house apart looking for it! I finally gave up shortly before leaving for the evaluation...I was running behind (as usual) and didn't have time to keep looking. I'd just have to tell Kim that it is missing and apologize for my lack of organizational skills. Well, the whole evaluation went great. I still felt aweful about not having the notebook. I hate having to tell her that "yes, my daughter did the work but I can't show you." She was extremely sweet about it though. I was so relieved. She found my girls had done sufficient work this year for their abilities and signed their portfolio review forms. I am so grateful for having such a wonderful person to go to for my girls' portfolio reviews. Upon my arrival back home, my eldest greeted me. She knew how frazzled I was about the reviews ( I always am...just the way I am. No reason for it, except it always gives me that feeling in the pit of my stomach as HUGE tests did back when I was in high school.) She started to apologize for not having her notebook to give me. I told her it was done and overwith now, but to next time keep her notebook in her cubby where I had told her to. She nodded and apologized again. I laughed and told her to stop doing that (apologizing, that is). That it was done and no big deal. She gave me a hug and headed to her room to get ready for her soccer practice in the evening. About a half hour later, while I made them something to eat, my eldest came in with a disgusted look on her face. I asked her what was wrong and she said, " You're never going to believe this." I was puzzled. I then asked her, "What won't I believe?" She replied, " I found this in the bottom of my laundry, while I was looking for my other ankle guard." To my amazement...and yes, my disgust too....she brought out from behind her back her High School Musical notebook! UGH!!!!! I asked, "How in the WORLD did it get in your laundry?!!" She shrugged. So, we are both assuming the notebook was another victim of my youngest's kidnappings. She tends to grab notebooks, books, paper, pens, markers, crayons...and whatever else she can 'lift' and take off to a 'secret place' to play with, use, leaf through..whatever. I wanted to bang my head up against a wall at that moment. After all that searching and the thing was in the LAUNDRY!!! Figures...the one place I DIDN'T look for a notebook. Geesh. Oh well. So, Kim...if you read this...that's where the notebook was. I apologize. If you still wanna take a looksee at her second semester writings, they're here. You'll have to ignore the aroma of dirty sock that now eminates from it though. Sorry. ha! ha! I guess next time something comes up missing I'll look in the laundry. |
