These past five or six days now have been rough here...nothing but coughing and sneezing at this house. Ugh...hate this stuff. Nyquil is our friend...lol! After of the majority of the time with the kids having this, I too am coming down with it...though I've been staving it off for the last three days somewhat. However, I dont have the luxury of taking the Nyquil...or any medication for that matter, except at night. It seems most anything with an anti-histamine in it knocks me out for a LONG time. The stuff works great for my cough, sneezing, etc too...just have to wait til the evening. I guess that's one way to get my sleep in!! lol!! I've taken other stuff without anti-histamines, but doesn't do much for my symptoms. Oh well...I'll live. I also went to see a surgeon yesterday about an abdominal hernia that I have (next to my belly button). I first noticed the pain from it with my second pregnancy. However, it usually only bothered me when I coughed or sneezed. As of the last six months or so, it has started to hurt at other times though, while just sitting here at my compy or walking around the house. So, I finally went to the doc for it ( I'm not a fan of doctors, so I tend to put things off when it comes to myself.) Evidently, the surgery I had to remove my gallbladder, just a couple of weeks after my eldest was born, caused this nice lil hernia. The hernia is at one of the small incision sites that I had for the laproscopy. So, the surgeon will be going back in through the same site to repair it (either just with stitches if it's small, or a piece of mesh if it's larger...he can't tell til he's in there). The procedure will be an in/out, same-day procedure lasting a whole whopping hour! lol! I will be having it within the next couple of weeks. Sadly, the recovery is longer, depending if I get stitches or mesh. With mesh, it's actually a shorter recovery...which kind of puzzles me. You'd think stitches would be shorter. Either way, I'm hoping it goes smoothly and takes care of my problem. Update on Watson...he is doing wonderfully! He has gotten a bit of his old energy back and is in a much more lovable mood lately! He seems to follow me everywhere and has even resumed walking all over me while I'm laying in bed...which he hasn't done in a LONG time. Granted, I don't really enjoy his heavyweight tromps up and down me in the night, but it's good to see him as his old self. He takes his anti-ulcer medication and an anti-diarrheal every 12 hours, which has been helping a lot. I also ordered an herbal medication that has a lot of positive reviews for cats with kidney disease. The stuff is called Tripsy. It's expensive, but lasts 3 months...so if broken down in that way, it's not that costly. It came in the mail today and I gave him his first dose. He seems to be doing fine with it, but I'm sure it will take time to tell one way or the other on this stuff. I pick up his 'special food' at the vet tomorrow...they had to order it. But it should last a while with it being just one cat eating it...I hope. lol! |

However, I am in debate over taking the girls and myself to Awanas tomorrow night though. They too are coughing and still have the sniffles and don't want them giving it to anyone else. So, we may be relaxing at home tomorrow evening. So, if we're not there, you'll know why!
