A Day in the Life...
Apr. 18, 2009
Recent Events

Well, today is day 18 of my new weight-loss journey. lol!! It has actually flown by without any real problems. Yes, I slipped up a couple of days, but not bad. Those are gonna happen. I weighed in today and found myself 7 pounds lighter than when I started on April 1st. Yippee!!! So, it's going great!! I am also still working out daily at the gym, as well as the occasional workout at home. Either one works for me. I'm praying that the weight keeps dropping and that I reach my goal by the end of summer. Til then, I'll keep chuggin' away at my diet and exercise.

Today's weather is absolutely beautiful!!! It's bright and sunny and best of all...WARM!!! Yes, I love warm weather!! The complete opposite of my polar bear hubby. lol!! I planted some new lilies out front, along with my older ones that have bloomed for the last two years. I planted some 'Commander In Chief' ones that are scarlet with black speckles. I also planted some orange fresias that look sort of like orange daylilies, but they're not. Either way, it'll all look real pretty once they all bloom. So far, I have over 20 buds coming up!! Terrific compared to last year's number of five. lol!! I also planted some more marigolds and some forget-me-nots together under my daughters' bedroom windows. The colors look beautiful together and am hoping that they too bloom very well. We'll see in the coming weeks. I know it would be so much easier to plant some already bloomed flowers, but I like to watch things grow. It gives a deeper sense of satisfaction to me that way. I'm wierd like that. lol!

As far as homeschooling goes...we are still doing it. However, we will be going into the summer months since I slacked off so much during the regular school year. But it will give the girls something to do during all those times that they come into the house saying, " Mom, I'm bored!!" lol!! Also, an escape during the hours that are too hot to play outside. Another good thing, they will forget less between school sessions. A big plus!! lol! I am now writing assignments down for my eldest to do on her own, since she wants to do more independent study. This is fine with me and I'm wondering why I didn't do it sooner. lol! But she specifically asked me to do it and she likes it. So, it works out great! My second oldest could stand to do some of the same...just not with all of her work. She needs a bit of prodding in some areas still. My other one still needs the hands on help in just about everything and will be starting our youngest in kindergarten this coming year too. I'll definitely have my hands full so some independent study by the oldest ought to help!!

We haven't attended hardly any days of the local homeschool co-op this year. They said they are changing the hours next year, so that will be nice. At least two of us moms are pretty grateful for that. lol!  It should help with our ability to attend too. I really do miss seeing everyone there, and am sure that my girls do as well.

Oh...on facebook I am a member of another facebook page dedicated to the youth from our church district while I was growing up.  One of the ladies suggested that all of us get together for a reunion at my old youth pastor's camp down in Virginia..Camp Tukaway. It sounds like an awesome idea, but noone, besides my older sis and another friend have expressed an interest in it. Either they haven't checked out the youth page recently and didn't see the post or they just don't like the idea. I'm truly hoping that more people express an interest in getting together. It would be terrific to see everyone again, especially at 'camp'...with all of our spouses and children. Yes, it would be different, but awesome! Love the idea! Hoping that others take an interest in the idea.
