Question about video math courses and ACE math users...
Ignoring the noise... www.momtofive.com

My oldest son has been using ACE for math for the last six years.  He is starting the 7th grade, but I was disappointed to find out that the 7th grade math hasn't been updated like 1st through 6th was.
I have three questions:
1.  Has anyone else used 7th grade ACE math and did your child struggle with going back to the older version?
2.  If you switched your child from ACE math to anything else, what did you use?
3.  Do you know of any good video math courses for 7th grade? (either DVD or online)

Thank you -
Tori

Have you heard of Dive into Math?
I think this might be what you are looking for! It goes along with Saxon Math! I don't know if you have looked into working with Saxon, but I might! I know a lot of people who use it, unless someone else has a better plan!

I started using Teaching Textbooks with my oldest son. He started Algebra this year and after painstaking research I found this curriculum. It is written by two homeschoolers to the child not the parent in a language they can understand. It comes with CDs so that you can watch the problem being worked out on the computer. I am pretty sure they have 7th grade and they also have an assessment test you can give to him to see where to place him. I will be switching #2 son after he finishes what he is working on after the holiday. Here is the link: www.teachingtextbooks.com
I believe I found it on Ebay too.

I am watching the comments here, because that is a good question. I have one ready for algebra also, and I am resolved to change math programs as soon as she is done with this book. This one has tooooo many errors in the answer key. Won't be long -- we can't stand busywork, and we are skipping a lot. I am off to see whether we can get online samples of Teaching Textbook.

Sorry, I don't have any experience with that curriculum to answer your question. I was just visiting and enjoying the picture of your children on your profile. It is cute.

I will ditto Teaching Textbooks. Alek (10) is doing the 7th grade level TT & he's doing GREAT! He was already a year ahead in Singapore Math so I tested him for TT & really, he probably could've done PreAlgebra. But there were some concepts in the 7th grade level that I didn't think he had learned in Singapore Math. We used Singapore Math from preK until this year with him.

It's an awesome program. There is a lecture they listen to on the CD & they do about 5 practice problems and then around 20 problems after that. They put in their answer after they work out the problem & the program tells them if they're right or wrong. One time I even heard it say something like he had the right answer, but he needed to reduce the fraction. If you get it wrong a second time, it will walk you through the problem, step by step and show you how to do it correctly.

It does come with a workbook that contains all of the problems and it seems like a teacher's guide too with the answers, but I can't find that. I haven't needed it though. That way if your computer's tied up, they can at least do the problems in the book.

They just came out with the 6th grade level & I'm waiting till they have one Gracie can use. It's so nice to have "someone else" teach math. Frees up a little of my time!

Anyway, we like it!
Love, Alyssa

p.s. thanks for your sweet comments on my blog and especially for your prayers!
