• Jun. 14, 2008 - Back again, thoughts on marriage, and a lot of smoke
I can't believe it has been so long since I have been here! I have so much to post, but I just haven't taken the time to sit down and type it all. The boys and I were gone for 2 weeks on a road trip, so I will post about it when I can post photos as well. Then there is this new coaching gig of mine that takes up a good amount of time. All of these things just zapping my desire to post.
But here I am now.
I went to a swim meet today. It is amazing how well you can get to know people at those events. I only had 8 girls there, so I wasn't too busy. One of the high school aged girls sat down and we started talking about stuff when she made a comment about marriage that saddened me. It was something like "I don't think marriage is rally a good thing." How sad are those words? I told her I disagreed and that I had a pretty good marriage. I also explained to her that marriage is not easy. It takes work. Unfortunately we were interrupted by swim meet happenings, and we never got back on that subject. But it really saddened me to hear a young girl say that. It makes me want to work that much harder on my relationship with H. These young people need to see and hear about how good marriage can be! But they also need to know that it is not a cake walk. It takes effort and commitment.
And we are not lacking for excitement here. A wildfire started up by Paradise on Wed. and is only 35% contained as of today. At 1 point all roads into town were closed with only 1 open to out bound traffic for those having to evacuate. It has not been pretty. There is so much smoke in the air, and numerous people have lost their homes. Approx. 23,000 acres has burned so far. There have been no deaths due to the fire, and only a few minor injuries to the firemen. The people in this area could use a lot of prayer.

It's also a choice. You can choose to work at it and make it good or you can choose not to.
I'll keep you in prayer concerning the fires.
