Yesterday i started an entry about what we have been up, but I accidently deleted it somehow. Grrrrrrrrr. So I just decided to wait. It wasn't worth sitting at the computer being frustrated over. So I will try again tonight, starting with the 4th of July.
We spent the morning of the 4th planting the veggies that have been in pots on the front porch for months. The boys helped a bit with that, but spent most of their time outside picking peaches off the peach tree. I don't know how many LV ate, but I was very surprised he didn't spend the evening alone in the bathroom! He did smell so sweet from the peach juice (which he inadvertantly wiped all over his face and neck) that a paper wasp decided he was a peach. Before he realized the wasp was even on him, it stung him on his left jawline! He went running in the house yelling, and by the time I got inside to take care of him he was already washing it out. I gave him an ice pack, and he spent the rest of the morning on the couch reading. It kinda put a damper on the day for him.
Once it got too hot outside, the boys and the man : ) watched movies while I made a peach pie. My first ever!
Once the pie was done we packed up and headed to Craig and Carleen's for a 4th of July bbq. We had a nice time just relaxing and visiting. All of the kids ran and played their little hearts out. Around 9:00 we headed home. On the way we passed the race track and noticed a lot of people waiting for the fireworks to start. So we pulled into the Costco parking lot, found a space (not easy to come by), and waited. And waited. And waited. Finally around 10:30 (or later) the show began! The boys had been getting restless (not to mention tired) and we almost went home, but we were glad in the end that we stayed. The bummer was that it took us 45 minutes to get from Costco to home! The boys were filthy dirty and sweaty, but they just curled up in their beds that night and went to sleep.
Sat. was the usual day at home and church in the evening.
Sunday we went to Sam and Charlotte's for dinner and came home with a Bengal kitty. Her name is Lulu, and she is the sister to Neko , our Bengal that we had who ran away the night D was born. So now we are in the process of getting Missy and Lulu used to each other. A puppy and a kitty in our house now. Crazy!
Monday the boys started VBS at church. Then Tues. and Wed. nights they had Cub Scout Twilight camp. It was supposed to go through tonight, but they had to cancel due to the fires. As it was last night, they had to move everything indoors. Tonight they were supposed to do an egg drop from a ladder truck, and they seemed to be having problems locating the ladder truck. My suggestion was to go to the fire camp at the fair grounds because there was sure to be one there! Hee hee. Needless to say, my boys are exhausted! Tomorrow is their last day of VBS, and hopefully we can rest this weekend. We shall see. There is a swim meet scheduled for Sat.. and I'm waiting to hear if it is still going to happen. Hopefully by then the smoke will have cleared a bit.
A good rain storm sounds so refreshing right now. |
