• May. 26, 2009 - Fallout 3 Map Packs

The new downloadable maps are :  The Pit, Broken Steel and Operation Anchorage.

The Pit is really the reaming ruins of Pittsburg. You play as a slave worker trying to collect hidden ingots. These ingots will buy your freedom from the Pit.

Broken Steel is an above ground area where you fight as a team with AI's.The level 20 cap , is now a level 30 cap on this new map.

Operation Anchorage is where you battle the Koreans . You get to control a super robot of doom.

You can make your own one of a kind weapons. There is a handheld weapon that allows you to shoot with anything you find on the ground. So your ammo can be anything from teddy bears to tin cans. I find this funny...shooting AIs with teddy bears...something cute and fuzzy.  ROFL =)

If you collect all the bodies of people you kill she will come and attack you. If you gather all the sisters together she shall be furious at you. You play in a city under water called Rapture. The people that live in Rapture are human and abnormals. You can use weapons other Big Daddys would not think of ; like a hammer gun and plasmids .

• Apr. 28, 2009 - Yu- Gi- Oh !

Its a card game where you use addition and subtraction math skills. Basicallly each player starts with 8000 life points. If your  opponent runs out of life points, then you win the duel. Half the fun is getting new cards to add to your deck and make it more powerful. Finding the rare cards are a bonus in a pack of 9 cards. They make your deck more strategically effective against your opponents. My latest rare find; is the Volcanic Doomfire card . This card creates a domino effect against monsters of my opponent. It will attack the first monster card of my opponent and will destroy the other monsters on the playing field. They lose 500 points for each monster that gets destroyed by the effect of this rare card. I find this card game to be a thinking game , you need to have strategy. The cards are colorful and very descriptive of their attack points, defense points and special effects. Each card has a character and a story. This card game requires reading and math skills and is for ages 6 and up.

Upgrades ammo of guns, aim sights on guns , camoflauge that make you a ghost on the battlefield. Perks run silent no one can hear you running up on them. You can do knife kills instead of bashing with your gun like a maniac. Number one tip is always keep moving on the battlefield.

• Feb. 24, 2009 - You've Got Water In Your Head

Your body is more than half water. Your blood for instance, is 90 percent water. Your brain is 75 percent water. And there is water in every one of your cells.

You lose about 2 and a 1/2 quarts (2.4 liters) of water a day. Some is lost as urine. Some, as perspiration. Some, when you breathe. But water is usually easy to replace. Every time you eat food, you eat water.

Foods that contain a lot of water are ; tomatoes , oranges, and watermelon.

Did you know that bread is more than one-third water ? Meat is more than half water. And of course, milk and juice are nearly all water, plus natural flavoring and nutrients.

• Feb. 3, 2009 - Son's Blog - Killzone 2

Today I want to talk about the game " Killzone 2 " This game is based on a work of fiction. You play as a soldier in a war between the Hellgas and the humans of Earth. The Hellgas attack Earth , you and Earths' army fight them off . Now you and Earths' army takes the fight to the Hellgas home planet Hellgone to attack the Hellgas soldiers. At the begining all the soldiers are told there will be  minor enemy resistance on the planet. You and the men land on flying craft where the soldiers stand on top of it in the wide open, or sit on it. Earths army has tanks and high tech mech battle suits . You can only carry 1 main weapon, so you need to think what weapon you need to keep advancing on the enemy. The Hellgas know that you and the army are coming. They  are well fortified , are dug in and hiding and waiting to ambush the soldiers.

• Jan. 27, 2009 - Get Them Thinking !

I find it hard to get my teenage son to write . I find if they are excited or concerned about something , they tend to do better. I told him yesterday to think about what he would be blogging about today. LOL...I figured it was going to be another gamer blog. Well surprise, surprise....It was about Africa . To see it for yourself look at the previous blog " Are We Helping Or Hurting Africa ? "  He may have seen something on television that sparked his thoughts. As all he wanted to talk about this morning was what was going on in Africa. I was like write it down, it will be perfect for your blog. He is a great speaker, but his thoughts get jumbled before it reaches paper. So any writing he does makes me proud !

• Jan. 27, 2009 - Are We Helping Or Hurting Africa ? (Son blog)

Canada and U.S.A send humanitarian aid to Africa. They build schools to help teach the children. The Rebels grab the children from the schools and burn the schools . They want the children for soldiers and the male adults get taken for blood diamond mining. Some of the food , water and medical supplies that are going to the villages that need it, get stolen. The Rebels steal it or destroy it if they cant have it for themselves. With the schools all the children of the village are in the school making it easier for the Rebels to get more soldiers. Because of the schools the Rebels get all the children in one swoop and their new soldiers are more smarter.

In my Opinion : The answer to the question is we are hurting Africa and fueling the Rebels with food , water ,medical supplies and more  children soldiers . Hopefully we can find a better solution !

• Jan. 20, 2009 - Halo Wars

The year is 2531 you are with a army of UNSC soldiers trying to find out what the Covenant are looking for on the planet Harvest. This game is different than the other Halo games. It is not a first person shooter game, it is the first halo strategy game for the Xbox 360 . You can command all UNSC soldiers and vehicles including the Spartans when they were still a team. In this game you will have to outwit the Covenant to take them out with little losses on your side. You shall be fighting the Covenant and the Flood . You can build buildings  that make vehicles , call in air strikes , make factories for resources , call for reinforcements,  call for artillery etc.

I am looking forward to this game being released this year 2009. I like how the game has evolved to a new gaming experience. GET YOUR GAME ON !

• Jan. 20, 2009 - Rag Rugs And Rag Blankets - Mom Blog

My great grandmother made the most wonderful quilts and rugs. I am thinking of trying my hand at it. You know how clothes gather up in bags as they have large holes or are worn out. Like the crotch in a pair of blue jeans...LOL...The rag bag !

I do not own a sewing machine as I am not a great sewer. I can however mend small things by hand. I have made toppers for windows.

Youtube has videos on all sorts of sewing ideas and making rag blankets etc..

I have gathered this info on making Rag Rugs :

You will need

Old sheets 2 or 3

Scissors

Large rug needle

Fishing line

Thimble

Needle and thread

Cut you sheet in long strips about 2 inched wide,

Sew strips together at ends until you have 3 long pieces, (try mixing colors)...

Take your 3 strips and begin to braid them together, to make a tight braid twist the material as you braid it...

Tip... you made need to fasten one end to something to help pull tight while braiding...

When you have a ridiculously long braid, it's time to begin rolling it together; this is the hard part.

Roll the braid flat against it's self, use the rug needle and fishing line to sew it together on the back as you work your way through ( use thimble to help push rug needle threw). Check occasionally to make sure there is not a twist in the braid, it will make a lumpy rug.

Make it as big or as small as you want and decorate your home or give as a gift... I hope you enjoy making your own rug...Have fun...

Remember you can use any old rags...it's up to you.
