"Hands up who remembers their school nature table.
Jam jars of catkins... [and other plants] sitting alongside
hand-written labels on a rickety Formica table. Finding a discarded
bird's nest, the skeleton of a leaf - or, even better, a dead stag beetle -
at the weekend meant rushing into school on Monday morning
to talk proudly about your discovery in front of the class."
Inspired by the folks at Country Living U.K., we decided to welcome springtime by creating our own nature table filled with treasures from our yard. It didn't take long to assemble a few interesting
specimens. This display brings a breath of fresh air into our homeschool-- and just in time--
we all have a strong case of Spring Fever this week. The weather is simply too fine to keep our
noses in the books!

: : I love the curves and delicate colors of the Dogwood : :

: : The Beech, my favorite tree, holds on to her papery autumn leaves throughout the winter.
The springtime buds will cause her, finally, to shed them : :

: : As an added bonus, the nature table also gives young spellers a chance to tackle a few
juicey Latin words (with far too many vowels!) : :
Blogging may be light this coming week, my dears.
We've gone out to play.
