April 9, 2008 - Caring For The Nature Table

Our nature table gives me a wonderful chance to indulge in one of my favorite things-- the gentle

art of puttering. Do you putter?  Isn't it soul-satisfying work? I just love tending to the smallest details: freshening the water, discarding spent blossoms, adding the children's newest treasures.

I get to be The Curator of this tiny museum of natural history!

Just another one of the million reasons that I love being right here.

Right now.

Yes! I do believe in puttering. It is definitely one of the things that I can boldly say I do well. My children often chuckle when I randomly deadhead a planter on a city street. Puttering...feels right somehow.
By the way, what are you reading right now?

Putterers Unite! The world needs beauty and someone's got to do it, for goodness sake :-)
In answer to your book question,
right now I'm re-reading _For The Family's Sake_ by Susan Schaeffer Macaulay. I'm gleaning so much more from this book *today* than I did a few years ago-- a true living book!

This is beautiful Ann.
For years we have kept a nature table- sometimes extravagent others (like when we were always moving) just a little tucked away placemat of treasures. This week when we redid our floors and had to move the said nature table, I thought the kids wouldn't notice that I hadn't put it back as it seemed to be more of my thing as of late. But lo and behold it was asked for right away, as the first signs of spring were poking from the melted snow!

Your blog is always refreshing Ann.
Hope you are having a beautiful spring.

What a wonderful idea! My children are constantly bringing the outside in - we will immediately create a "nature table" - I have just the spot!!

I'm so excited - I know the children will be. Thank you!
