November 11, 2008 - Lanterns For St. Martin's Day

Today, we brought out our colorful homemade lanterns to celebrate the inspiring life of
St. Martin of Tours. His example inspires us to share WARMTH generously with those
around us whenever and wherever we see the need.

The autumn weather is crisp and stunningly beautiful here in North Carolina on this feast day.
I spent the better part of it rummaging through the coat closet and the sweater drawers to find outgrown warm clothing to pass along, making lentil soup for lunch, writing a few encouraging notes,
and blowing an ocean of colorful leaves off of the lawn and into the forest.

On Saturday, we'll warmly welcome Uncle Keith for his annual visit in honor of deer hunting season.
Oh, how my dear husband looks forward to this time with his brother! Our peaceful tree house becomes a "Mancave" for the hunters, and the children and I just marvel at their preparations and passion for the ancient art. I'm sorry to say, I don't have any fondness for venison, though I understand it's quite healthy and goodness knows it's organic. I'll make sure that the crockpot will offer warm suppers to the hungry huntsmen just in case they aren't lucky.

Warmth. It's so easy to share, isn't it?

I'm grateful for St. Martin's reminder.
Be warm, Friends.
xoxo Ann
