• Sep. 25, 2008 - Situation At Church
I don't know how exactly what is going on, but I need to share what I know about a thing going on at my church. As my last "blog" told, our church does not currently have a pastor. Our last one was caught in an affair. This time our situation is not as bad as that, but much more mysterious. We don't have a worship leader anymore. Why this happened, I have no idea yet, but I'll go ahead and try to explain what is going on.
Our worship leader, for the last few months, knew that the people were disastified with his performance. He had been trying to adjust to the wants of the people, but the wants of the people change just as fast as he can adjust. He also seemed to be running WAY too many experiments on stage. That put aside, I really don't think he was too bad of a worship leader. There are many people that do not share this opinion.
Anywho, this had been going on for a few months, and it seemed that nothing was changing. Then all of a sudden, there were rumors of him being fired. The story changed into several forms: he quit, he was forced to quit, he was fired, he was not fired, he was in no danger of being fired; the stories change on an hourly basis. THis had been going on for three days when my mom got an email from him that was sent to the praise team. It read something like:
Dear Worship Team:
There have been a lot of rumors floating around about my realationship with the church. Allow me to give you what I can:
- I have not quit
- I have not been fired
- I WILL being leading worship on sunday
I will teach my choir class
After this email, He came back to lead Wednesday night practice, and we thought that he was going to stay. But as it turned out, on Saturday, my dad is asked to lead worship. So he threw a set together, and did it on Sunday. We were expecting an anouncement on Sunday, but there was nothing there.
Then to make matters worse, my youth pastor (whom I like a WHOLE lot) is looking like he was the ringleader of this force-the-worship-leader-to-resign nastiness. I'm so confused right now, as is most of everybody else. We are losing people by the dozens because of the way our leadership has failed to tell us what is going on! This is VERY Frustrating!!!!!!! |
