About Me

I am a blessed homeschooling mother of 7 married to my best friend Jim who is a naval aviator. Between deployments, moving, and new babies, life around our house is never dull for long and can often be quite entertaining. I've been told I should start writing it all down, so here goes...

Lilypie 1st Birthday Ticker

"Teach us to number our days aright, that we may gain a heart of wisdom." Psalm 90:12

"But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called Today, so that none of you may be hardened by sin's deceitfulness." Hebrews 3:13

Running Around Like a Chicken With Her Head Cut Off

Today I need a do over.  I was very busy and accomplished practically nothing.  I had a very bad attitude left over from the night before.  I prayed that God would change my heart and decided to start the day in Bible reading, but got continuously interrupted as soon as I tried to sit down.

Then I gave up and decided to go to the store for birthday food (Shelby is 10 tomorrow), but when I went outside one of my rear tires was completely flat.  The boys and I spent nearly an hour locating the jack and removing the spare from underneath our 12 passenger van in 90 degree temp and about 100 % humidity only to discover that we weren't able to get the lug nuts off the flat tire and had to call the wrecking service anyway.

I finally got on the road to the store with Micah screaming the whole way, when a friend called to see if I could stop by her house on my way to talk about the thing that caused my bad attitude.  So I did.  Not sure we fixed anything.  I probably just revealed way too much of said bad attitude, which we both recognize as sinful pride on my part that needs to be weeded out.  She is such a good friend.  I'm very thankful for her.

Anyway, off to the store AGAIN.  I finally arrived at 5:30 and found they had closed at 5:00.  Jumped in the car and returned to our small town to try the dollar store, but they don't have the right kind of cake mix OR frosting (chocolate cake with strawberry frosting).

The end.

It really doesn't matter, though because my favorite person in the whole wide world is at this very moment in his truck and on the way HOME!!!!!  He should be here in a couple more days.  I can't wait!  He always makes everything better and WAY more fun.

Thanks for listening.

I just described my Monday to a friend via e mail using the same terminology. I did get a few things accomplished but by the evening I was tired, sore and worn out and in a grumpy mood. Sigh.. I am sorry you had a bad day. At least each morning the Lord's mercies are new and we can start again!

I hope you're feeling/doing better. Rough days can really take it out of you.

I hope Shelby's day was super duper special. And that your hubby is home again, home again...where he belongs!

Hugs...

Jun. 10, 2009 - Hubbies are Amazing

Posted by SusannahCox

How could we live without them? Just having hubby walk in the door lightens the whole mood in our house. I'm SO glad he was on his way home to you!! I felt so bad for you reading about your day. Not a fun one! You went a step further than I would trying to jack up the truck. :) I guess you develop strength and independence when your hubby has to be away for long periods. I'm a total wimp.

Jun. 10, 2009 - Oh, re: Learning Adventures

Posted by SusannahCox

There's a Yahoo group where you can ask questions and get support; it's really good! My friend Heather has been very successful with LA, and I'd be glad to ask her if you can e-mail her (she is also active on the yahoo group). I'm actually going to go with Classical Conversations next year, not because I didn't like Learning Adventures (it is really good), but because I'm having a hard time with personal consistency, and I think CC (though expensive) will be a good support for me. Plus, it's right here in town, and how often does that happen? It seems God-sent. Usually you have to drive to get to one.

I know there are days like this and if we keep cool and asking the Lord to help that is sometimes all we can do.

I am sooooooooooo glad your hubby is home and you all are soaking up dad time.

Blessings and ((HUGS)) my SSiC
