Home Again (kind of)

We moved house (again) on Monday.  We are now back in Christchurch, NZ, after six months in Australia.  The transition back has been extended - a week on the road from NSW to QLD, then a week at Noosa catching up with family.  Our arrival into Christchurch at midnight followed a very stressful flight (particularly the check in with 100kg plus of luggage!).  Over the last few weeks we've been in various holiday homes, and now, we have a furnished house in the country for the next 6 months.  Lots of change, challenge and frustration.  I am so over packing!!  We are all missing being close to Dad and Pat (my step-mum) but it is also glorious to be back in NZ - no redback spiders in the laundry - no cockroaches in the kitchen, and a large garden for the children to play in.  We are on a 5 acre block, with a fenced garden of about 1/2 an acre.  Very nice!

Autumn is here with warm days and cooler nights.  The trees are changing colour and losing leaves - its soothing to be in a cooler climate.  We have a friendly rabbit who has visited our garden for the last few days - he looks a lot like Peter Rabbit (without the jacket of course).  Will write more later.

Christmas in Australia

Today is Christmas Eve and we find ourselves living temporarily in Australia.  My Dad is recovering slowly from osophegus cancer and we have moved over from NZ to be near him.  Everyone is coming to our house for Christmas Day tomorrow - our first Christmas together in over 20 years.  As I sat in church yesterday, the depth of the Christmas message and what we actually celebrate was brought home in a very real way.  May God be among us all this Christmas.  May we see him with new eyes and may our hearts be softened towards God and each other.  Teach us to love Lord. M

Starting Again

Here it is, six months on from starting my blog.  I lot has happened.  I've been diagnosed with ADHD (a very useful process), my 7yo ds has changed meds, summer has been and gone (annoyingly short!), my dd has turned 4.  We have now been in Christchurch for 2 weeks short of one year.  We are reflecting on that time - not sure we want to be in NZ, but not sure where we actually want to be!
