Turning Our Hearts To Home

Summer activity ideas

So I thought I'd post this and hopefully get lots of people to respond.  I'm looking for ideas to do this summer in your own backyard or maybe inside too if it's raining.  Fun stuff to do preferably with stuff you have in the house or that you could buy for under a couple bucks.  Gotta love dollar stores!  Come back and link or LMK  if you've made a post on your own blog on summer activities.

1- Draw pictures or hopscotch with sidewalk chalk.

2- Waterballoon fights

3- Make a nature journal and draw bugs, leaves, flowers, weeds, etc.  that you find outside.

4- Make bubbles out of water and dishsoap

5-Make an obstacle course.  Use things such as jump rope, bounce ball 10 times, do 3 summer saults.

6- Make a relay race

7- Have 2 buckets or containers of water and one sponge per child.  Try to get as much water as possible from one bucket to the other.

8-  Ty die an old t-shirt.

9- Jump through the sprinkler.

10- Press flowers and leaves in books.

I'll add more when I can think of any.  I'd love to hear what others can come up with!

Start a jigsaw puzzle - one that would last the summer - on a side table (one that could be left with the puzzle up at all times)

Take pictures of your weekly "fun" and scrapbook the pics in a homemade scrapbook (this would be another project!)

New to your blog...found it via CMOMB!! :-)

Some ideas:

-picnic, even right out in your own lawn
-set up a tent in your lawn and camp out
-lay on a blanket and look at the stars
-go to a local fair and look at the animals
-join free library summer programs
-bike ride
-take walks
-fishing
-campfire & smores right at home
-make treats that don't require heating up kitchen, like puppy chow together
-bubbles & water guns
-sprinklers
-board games
-garage sales
-go for a drive and end up at a park for a picnic
-take sand toys to a playground
-climb trees
-enjoy freeze pops together...or make your own cool treat by getting yogurt containers with covers...cut hole in lid...put popsicle stick thru...add a bit of granola to top of yogurt. Put lid with stick back on and freeze. Whala! Yummy frozen treat! (saw this in magazine and SO want to try it! :-D )

Hmm....can't think of more right now...man, these lists are SO FUN! :)

Blessings!

This really surprised me, but I bought a package of 100ct. pipecleaners and handed them to my kiddos and they were busy for well over 30 minutes! My daughter made some pretty cool things!! It was only $2!
We've also made "goop" with cornstarch and water. Plus they added some food coloring to make it even more interesting!!
