Camping at East Coast

i luv camping trips.they bring back fond memories of my childhood.

this last w/e, the kids had a scoutcamp at east coast. alas it was only 1night/ 2days, so hardly enuff to even get in the swing of things. the kids slept terribly late because of all the goings-on...kay 11/11.30pm. ky ard 12.30/1am. they suffered once they got home, but that's a whole 'nother story :) nxt morning we were all up at 7.30am. (oh did i mention i'd slept at 3/3.30am? :)  yes, a few of us chatted til way past our bedtimes... but it gave us a good laugh!...

when all the others had gone home after lunch, i took e chance to take e kids for a loooong walk. it was a time to re-focus ourselves. dh wanted us to go home rather than stay a nite on our own, so i was tryng to make e most of our short time away from e 4walls. he met us ard 5.30pm, so we headed back for a picnic dinner.  stretching out on mats, e kids chit-chatted abt the camp, then sat quietly enjoying the birds and the sounds of the trees above us as we greedily dug into some pasta. it was peaceful there on the grass, (while dh put away the tent in the distance...then hurried to get us all home).

camping together is something that brings us so close together, the kids and i. it gives us tremendous peace.  i wish dh wd join us for e whole experience, and just be able to give in to it.  perhaps big city folk find it more difficult...?  imho it's nice to be in a tent together with no diistractions. little things like story-telling in e dark, somehow bear such greater significance.  for me it also means no set times for things, and no set things to be done (except the mundane such as feeding ourselves of course)  and as kynan said so aptly: "i didnt have to wear shoes for 2whole days!!!"

now wot cd be better? :)

well, on an end note....some considerate neighbours wd go a long way to makinng the camping experience even *more* enjoyable, esp late at nite and into the wee hrs of the morning!  which is why east coast is not such a grand camping destination... so back to pasir ris nxt time for us i think.... :b
