ky was very excited abt our last zoo visit...
the new playground has opened and he was very impressed. so-much-so that he came home and drew a beautiful picture of it. the next day kayla was making a book about "feeding time at the zoo", and kynan wanted to make a book too. so i suggested he write about his outing and use his picture as one of the illustrations. as he'd already typed up the words for kay's book, he wanted to do the same for his own story... so this is what he wrote. (it took him almost 2hrs on the computer)
"My Trip To The Zoo
On Sunday we went to the zoo.
We saw the white tigers and the rhinos. One rhino was sleeping and one baby was drinking milk.
We were hungry. So we went to find food. Then we saw a play area. We were very happy. We ate first then we went to the waterplay area. It was awesome! And there was a big big big bucket! I stood under the bucket and thousands of litres of water fell on my head and I was very happy. I played there until a storm was coming.
We had to run to the drinks stall. We waited by the fishpond. It didn’t stop.
So we changed into our swimsuits.
Then we went under a groundsheet and walked back. We sat in a very deep puddle. It was the greatest day ever!!"
***the words that he'd originally mis-spelled were underlined for him, so he'd yell at me in the kitchen to check why. i'd then help him sound it out phonetically, as i continued with my chores. he'd get it eventually... and by the end of the write-up, he was starting to remember the 'strange' combinations -like th/ sh/ ch/ ing/ nk/ ng/ ck/ ed/ es/ er/ ou/ ea/ ee/ and the y-ending.
here are a few cute ways he spelt some of the words: (it's like reading a new language ;))
