I'm in Tennessee!
Howdy from the beautiful state of Tennessee! We got here yesterday after one grueling day of driving that included 5 stops before we ever got out of Texas due to a, well, carsick child that kept...uh...you get the picture. Our family vacation of the year has begun, and will finish at the National Championship in Birmingham, AL in about a week. Whew! What a day! We drove to Huntsville, AL in one day two years ago, so this wasn't our first time doing a 12+ hour day in the car, but it was still pretty tough.
Has anyone out there ever heard about the Annie Moses Band? I posted sometime last year about them after we went to a concert of their's. Anyhow, we've really enjoyed their music, probably because they are a family band, have six kids, play violin, viola, cello, etc, etc, etc. They are incredible musicians, and every time I listen to them play I become inspired to work on music a little bit harder . Well, I was on their website a few days ago, and happened to notice an invitation to come to a Christmas DVD shoot outside of Nashville on May 30th (In case you've lost track of the date, that was yesterday ). How convenient, I thought. We're driving into Nashville that very day!
Keep in mind that the drive was going to be at least 13 hours, with 6 children, some of whom are quite young and don't appreciate sitting still in the car for that long and then going to a two hour concert.
Well, the day didn't go as smoothly as we hoped...remember those 5 stops before the state line? Needless to say, I gave up all hope of going to the concert that night.
But somehow, we made up lost time, drove almost straight through Arkansas and Western TN, hopped out at a rest stop to change into nicer clothes, and pulled into TBN Studios just in the nick of time to slip on, grab a seat, and participate in the DVD shoot. We had a blast (everyone except Patti and Michael, who squirmed quite a bit ), it was funny listening to Christmas songs in May, but they were beautiful. Everyone needs to buy the DVD when it comes out later this year. On a side note, we're currently applying to get scholarships for a summer music program put on by AMB in Memphis, so hopefully we'll be back in TN in July!
I guess that wraps up Day 1 of our family vacation adventures. Now I'm going into full gear to finish getting ready for debate! |
