This (sniff) is 4 my old horse jewl. youl be in my heart old girl. I saw you, standing at the pasture gate, Beautiful, spirited, sensitive creature, a gift from God. I brought you home, shared my laughter, love, tears, I spoke to you as a cherished friend, during long, easy trail rides. I felt we were as one. I can still feel your warm breath on my hair, Hear your soft nicker, your happy hello, See your bright eyes watching for me. Laughing, I push your nose from my pockets. I must remember everything. I enter the barn, I call out, How're my girls today? Your daughters answer, But you do not, and never will never again in a way my mortal ears can hear, and your missing voice is so loud. I did my best, dearest friend, to ease your passage, while my heart was breaking, To help you in your journey to that place where all our horses go, To wait for their people to catch up. So Go, darling of the winds, Fly to Heaven's herd, and run, run, again in carefree joy! Grace and Beauty are your essence. You'll live forever in my soul. I'll join you someday. I'll bring the apples.
