My oldest son had a birthday today. Usually we celebrate it a month early so there can be time span between that celebration and Christmas. But today we waited until his actual birthday.
He had specially requested a month before that he wanted his birthday to be centered around National Treasure: A Book of Secrets. All week I was checking the movie theatres to find out the listings so I could plan his birthday. On Wednesday I discovered the movie was coming to our small town and it would begin at 1.
That day I asked the theatre if I could buy advance tickets the next day. Then I emailed his friends and asked them to meet us for pizza and then we would go see the movie. He could only invite seven boys. The next day I went to get advance tickets and they said the movie was moved to 12:15. So I wrote and called each Mom to let her know the time change and to be at the restaurant earlier.
The next morning we met at the restaurant and paid close attention to the time. We broke away at 12 so we could get to the theatre. Then we found ouot the movie was moved up to 1 and we had 30 minutes to kill. Once in the movie, it had 45 minutes of previews and took up most of the afternoon! The movie was great, though! A must see!
My son told me tonight that he had a great birthday today. A friend is sleeping over tonight and at almost midnight, I still hear them talking. So I think the fun is continuing. Tomorrow may be another story if they don't get to sleep! |
