We are watching the Book of John. What a wonderful video! We just viewed the part where Jesus was crucified. Blood and water intermingled as they poured from his innermost being. This is a picture of how the Holy Spirit and Jesus Christ are both needed.
We are saved when we accept Jesus Christ as our Savior. But we must also accept the Holy Spirit as our Lord, too. He is not as freely accepted as Jesus. But God is a triune being, composed of God, the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. While we can receive Jesus Christ to obtain salvation, we must receive the Holy Spirit to commune with both Jesus and the Father. That is why wine and bread is offered together at Communion. The wine represents the Holy Spirit that came at Pentecost after Jesus ascended to heaven. The bread was Jesus' broken body - healing bread for us to partake so we can be delivered of every affliction, oppression, and bondage.
I had a dream about my church recently. It is undergoing a change. Where once a fireman's suit hung next to a door with a hose to put out fire, a huge power cord hung in its place. Where a small power cord once hung, a very large one hung in its place. So two power cords hung side by side, an orange one representing the Holy Spirit and a red one, representing the redemptive blood of Jesus Christ. With both hanging next to the door, I saw how our church will operate in amazing power. But during the change, a pruning took place in my dream. Huge plants overpowered the room and had to be removed. |
