Our society today does not honor fathers. In commercials, movies, and sitcoms, the fathers are portrayed as foolish, egotistical, and childish. Children are seen talking back to their parents, acting out against them, and being disrespectful. The importance of fatherhood is undermined in every area of our society today.
Back in December, the Lord told Rick Joyner of MorningStar Ministries, to honor fathers so a curse would not come upon this land. In the Bible, it says to honor mothers and fathers so your days can be long and you can receive a rich inheritance. It does not say to honor parents if they are honorable. We are to honor our parents whether they were good or not.
I went to the Honoring Fathers Conference that was held last weekend at MorningStar Ministries in Fort Mill, SC. I went because I had a dream that I was supposed to go. I dreamed that I would have a choice between going to the beach or a conference and I had chosen the conference. While there, I heard others talk about a 33-year old Man whom others had tried to convict even though He was not guilty. They had tried to execute Him, but He is still alive. I met Him and fell in love with Him, too. Because of that dream, I knew I was supposed to go to this conference.
Before leaving for the conference, I had another dream that leaders gave out a basket of fruit, but students received two baskets of fruit. I knew from my dream that there would be a double-portion anointing from the meetings I would attend. So I went filled with anticipation. I was not disappointed. As pastors spoke about the anointings of the faith-healers of the 1800's and 1900's, and honoring those who went before us, we were told we would receive a double portion of their giftings.
Elisha recognized Elijah as his father and received a double portion of his giftings. We will also receive a double portion as we honor those who have gone before us.
I was excited when Ricky Scaggs prayed over bluegrass music, too. A bluegrass festival was taking place in my hometown as he was praying for bluegrass to be used as an evangelistic tool to bring in many to the body of Christ.
Through so many ways, God had shown me that what was taking place was honoring to Him, our Father, and that we in turn should honor all who have gone before us to pave the way for what He wants to happen next. I felt blessed to be a part of this conference. |
