My sons and I are almost finished with Story of Liberty and have enjoyed it thoroughly. Written by Charles Coffin, a Civil War correspondent, I believe it is probably closer to the truth than most world history books because it was not influenced by political agendas that would seek to make it politically correct. I think it is neat that Coffin felt led to write this series of history books so soon after the Civil war, because it was another fight for liberty.
These books are somewhat gruesome - the first chapter begins at the time of the Magna Charta when the king actually ate some Saracens! No wonder there was a need for the Magna Charta and no wonder there was a need to fight for liberty!
The fight for liberty continues today - fighting for the rights of the unborn child and the preservation of morals in America, which our founding fathers fought for so valiantly. I want my sons to see that fighting for liberty is worth dying for as so many did. |
