I like the books by T. Davis Bunn because they tell stories about how fictional characters spread the Good News of Jesus Christ in the marketplace.
I think it is no coincidence that I finished reading his book The Presence last week, right before Sarah Palin was chosen as McCain's running mate. The book is about a small town lawyer who has been invited to work at the White House. His presence brings the Presence of the Lord in such a tangible way that all of Washington is changed because of him. In the first week, Bible studies begin in the White House and after a month or two, five hundred are attending each morning, even the president and his wife. Because the Presence is with him, he gives words of direction to the president and he changes his course.
I pray His Presence inhabits the White House and changes our nation and our government in a lasting way. |
