After reading some reviews about Bedtime Stories, I wasn't sure I wanted to take my children. When it came to our $2 movie theatre, I couldn't resist. We went with a group of friends and enjoyed it thoroughly. While watching it, I was thinking about how grateful I am that my Father gives me bedtime stories. At night, I ask for dreams and He gives them to me in my sleep. When I wake up, I write them down and ponder over them during the course of the day. Lately, what happened in my dreams has been playing out in the course of my day and giving me insight into God's thoughts for me. Dreams are His way of leading me, giving me answers to problems, and encouragement that shows me I am truly His daughter.
Bedtime stories from our Father has always been His way of communicating with His children. In the Bible, more divine answers, prophetic words and revelatory visions came in the night through dreams than any other form. God, who is the same yesterday, today and forever, still talks to His children the same way. Job 33:14-16 speaks about the God speaks to men through dreams, sealing instructions. Today it is as the prophet Joel prophesied when he said God would pour out His spirit and His people would have dreams and vision (See Acts 2:17).
The movie Bedtime Stories is about a son who was told he could take over his father's hotel. Although Skeeter worked hard in his father's hotel, he was never given a promotion. This reminded me of how God wants His Son to rule and reign on this earth, yet He is constantly passed over because mankind would rather see the prince of darkness ruling their land. The end of the movie was wonderful to me as I saw how the Son's kingdom comes to earth and His brides rules and reigns with Him. I know it's just a silly movie, but as an alleghory, it's a beautiful picture. |
