I felt as if I were walking with Destiny, and that all my past life had been but a preparation for this hour and trial . . . I was sure I would not fail.” Winston Churchill made this statement about his being asked to be the English prime minister at the age of 65.
Each of us has a destiny to fulfill. Before you were placed in your mother’s womb, God wrote down your resume in heaven. If you were to catch a glimpse of it, how much do you think you have accomplished so far? You were born with a distinct purpose.
My passion is to see young people step into their destinies at an early age. As a homeschool mother of three boys, ages 13, 9, and 6, it has become important to me to see young people arise to their gifts and callings and become what God has intended for them to be.
Currently, 75% of teenagers are walking away from Christianity, believing church life is legalistic dull, and lifeless. I was one of those who left the confines of dead religion and did not return until twenty years later. When I came back to Church, I discovered that Christianity is the most exciting adventure one can embark. It is my goal to see that young people understand their importance in the plan God has for their generation. The youth of today are called to be tomorrow’s leaders.
Thirty years ago, two youth leaders, Bill Bright of Campus Crusades and Loren Cunningham of Youth with a Mission were given a message to give to one other. The Lord showed both of these leaders seven kingdoms He wants His people to invade. These seven areas of influence are family, church, education, government, media, performing arts, and business and technology. When these mountains of influence are overtaken by Christians, a culture can be transformed for Christ. God is calling forth the emerging millenial generation to bring in the greatest harvest the world has ever seen.
I believe this is one of the most important messages for teens today. Because I want them to know how important their roles are, I have written a book for teens entitled Kingdom Reign: Ruling and Reigning over Seven Kingdoms for Teens. In it, I tell young people about the seven areas of influence and provide stories of those who are climbing or have climbed these mountains of influence to cause a positive change in our culture.
It is not too late for each of us to accomplish a certain destiny within our realms of influence. The seeds God has placed inside each of us are what make us feel most fulfilled. When we begin to achieve the purposes for which we were designed, our past and present realities sum up our futures. We enter into a zone in which life appears to be following a script. We know exactly what we are supposed to do and when and how to do it.
More importantly, it is up to us to prepare this emerging generation for the call they have on their lives. It is us to us to share our expertise and help them become all they are purposed to be.
During the ten years preceding Winston Churchill’s call to become a prime minister, he had been a beacon of light in a dark world. Foreseeing darkness fast approaching, he sounded the alarm about the dangers of Adolph Hitler and his Nazi party, but his voice fell on deaf ears. When Churchill moved into his destiny, he led the world into a raging battle of good versus evil, and conquered the evil.
When we the Church overtake these seven areas of influence, we will also win a raging battle of good over evil. We are to be the light of the world, a Church on a hill that cannot be hidden. As Matthew 5:16 says, “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven” |
