In my last entry, I talked about being in the zone when we are doing what God wants us to do. Before school started I was on the phone with a friend. She told me her daughter wanted to tell me about having her teeth pulled at the dentist's office. Her daughter told me she was given pure oxygen. I thought, hm, I wonder if we will study oxygen for science today. That afternoon, I was teaching my children their science lesson from The Story of Science; Newton at the Center. The chapter was about Lavoisier and how he had studied oxygen. I was amazed. Then I read to them about how apples turn brown from oxidation. There on our kitchen table lay an apple with the brown spots from oxidation. We hadn't had apples in our house in a few months because of braces, loose teeth, etc., so I was amazed that the prop was laying there and I was able to tell them the story of pure oxygen and how it differs from the air we breathe |
