For my birthday, my sister treated my sons and I to free tickets to a baseball game. While we were there, my brother-in-law caught a foul ball with one hand as he held his cell phone with his other hand. I glanced over at my middle son, who sat there with his baseball glove on, waiting for a ball to come his way. "Help him get a ball," I prayed. Just as I had breathed those words, my niece turned towards him and said, "Andrew, I promised you a ball tonight. Here it is!" She handed him the ball her father had just given her.
Soon after, the person in front of me said to his seat mate, "I hope I win the notebook I registered for tonight." I told God, "If that's what I registered for, I want to win it." A few minutes later, my name was called over the loudspeaker that I was the grand winner of the notebook. I had won an HP mini laptop. I went to the registration desk to pick up my prize and had my picture taken with the Woodmen of the World.
My husband called me on the phone to tell me of an impending storm. He said he would keep me posted, but a tornado had been sighted nearby. My sister and I prayed that it would weaken before it got to where we were staying. After I left the game, I called my husband and he said the weather was too bad to travel home. He told me to get a hotel room and stay until the next day. After I checked into the hotel, I saw the weather channel had downgraded the storm in our area, saying it had weakened. Just what we had prayed!
God was certainly answering my prayers that night! I had a great time with children and my sister's family. I was able to drive home safely the next day. |
