Aug. 12, 2008 - Peaches and Cobbler
My MIL left some peaches at the house last week when she came down for a visit. I am surprised there are any left. Caroline loves them so much.
Years ago we threw out some peach scraps(peelings and pits) and a tree grew from it out behind the house. I have babied the tree for many years(hubby has threatened to cut it numerous times). This year it is full of the prettiest peaches. I was admiring it from my kitchen window and decided a peach cobbler was the project for the day . I thought I would share my recipe.
Vicki's Peach Cobbler
1 stick butter
1 cup self-rising flour
1 cup sugar
1 cup milk
1 1/2 to 2 tsp. vanilla flavoring
3 cups peaches ( peeled,pitted and sliced)
Melt butter in glass baking dish. Mix flour, sugar, milk, and vanilla. Pour into dish with melted butter. Then pour in fruit. Do not stir. Bake at 350 degrees until brown, about 45 minutes. Will serve around 8.
I usually double the recipe. It does not last long around here....lol

Pictures my 11 year old daughter took this morning. I think she has natural photography talents. I hope she will pursue it if that is her dream.

You are so lucky to have a peach tree in your backyard! You must be a bit more south than we are, as I don't think peaches would grow here. (NY)
I love peaches! I hope you enjoy your cobbler!

a pretty tree! Thanks for stopping by with ideas for my title. I really appreciate you taking the time to do that! I wish we had some fruit trees, as each year I spend more time trying to bring in the harvest (by buying my produce from the grocery store on sale and canning, which is not very cost effective).

Thanks for the comment on my blog. Drying apples is something we've never thought about. Since I'm looking at a box of apples right now, my daughters and I thought we might just try it. That is so neat how you just threw the seeds out and the tree grew! And thanks for the cobbler recipe. Emily
