Homeschooling Katt

Sep. 17, 2008 - Catching Up.......

Wow , I am so far behind on my blog. I have so missed the cyber connection of my fellow homeschooling pals. We have been hitting the homeschooling pretty hard. However , it has not been a smooth road so far. Having a special needs child and health issues of my own has made a very rocky start to our homeschooling year. Guess we just have not found our "click".   Thank goodness ,today has been what I wish all our homeschooling days would be like. Both kids have been very attentive today and we were able to play catch up and get two days work done.

I have found that having a written weekley lesson plan for each child is the key to my organization.  I recently ordered some workbooks for each of our subjects and they are working out great. I had been using some "hand me down" text books from a friends public school. They seem to work better for us as a fill in , not our main study guide.

We have hopes of joining a wonderful homeschooling group in Ennice , NC sometime in the future. With the gas prices and the group being about 40 minutes away we have not made it there yet. There is also one in Laural Fork , Va that would be great ...same problems though (gas and distance).

We are starting to see signs of Fall ( one of my favorite times of the year). I can not wait to go to the Blue Ridge Mtns. and take fall pictures.  While I love the NC Coast, nothing beats the fall colors of the VA Mtns.

Not sure how many of you have heard about the Drews Family of Texas and the loss of their three year old son. If you have not heard check out her blog and please remember them in your prayers.  I have worried even more about them since Hurricane Ike hit Texas . I wonder if they were affected. Such a wonderful family with such a strong faith.

Have any of you been affected by Hurricane Ike ?

Well , time to take a break and finish up today's schooling with some typing lessons and blog updates.

Glad you had a good day. Honestly, there are many days where homeschooling doesn't go like you think it should. Those good days help you keep going though.
