Homeschooling Katt

Oct. 14, 2008 - That Was Not My Agenda For The Day

How often does our day play out the way we planned or expected ? In my house the answer would be not very often. Today is one of those days that will support such a statement very well.
First, I have spent most of the day with my legs and feet propped up. I am diabetic and have developed a leg ulcer due to my legs and feet swelling. It is very hard to run a house and homeschool properly from the livingroom chair.
While grading workbooks from my laid up position. I discovered ( had that intuition) that my dear daughter was looking her answers up in the answer key. It was pretty evident once I confronted her...she had that look of "busted". Needless to say I was disappointed and we had a chat about the implications of her bad choices. She is also grounded from her Gameboy for the rest of the week.
Today has also been very hectic with our son . Having a child with ODD (Oppositional Defiant Disorder) can be a daily challenge. Today was no exception. The "ODD Monster" was in full force. Once the ODD Monster rears his ugly head the other child usually goes into " button pushing mode". For those of you lucky enough to have never experienced that it is best described as doing what ever humanly possible to irritate your sibbling. My children seem to have been used by Webster for the defination...lol...Grrrrrrr !!!
I have managed to grade workbooks and come up with some of next weeks plans for our lessons. Caroline found a spider weaving his/her web (one of many which seem to be coming in the house  this fall)  and decided to put it in a jar so we can study its behavior for a few days. At least this has changed the mood among everyone.
Prayers appreciated and always needed. Hope everyone else is enjoying a stress free and productive day.

I am sorry to here that you are having a bad day. I have a child (who shall remain nameless) with Reactive-attachment disorder/adhd, Some days I just pray for a good millitary school that we can afford! You did great, and tomorrow will hopefully be better.

It's nice to have new people stop by and say hello and then I can visit their blog and see what they are up too.
Thanks again and I hope to continue visiting.

I'm so sorry to hear you're feeling poorly and the kids, of course, are going right along with you. Let's hope the spider keeps things on a happier note for a while. Oh, and our oldest did the looking up thing once too. I hated being right about it. *sigh* You'll be happy to know, it didn't continue, and I'm sure yours won't either.
